i usually vote conservative but that guy is a moron

On a serious note, I'm not a fan of Stephen Harper but in this case it isn't a matter of picking someone competent (because they are all fuckin idiots), it's a matter of picking the lesser moron. Unfortunately, we gotta pick one of the two. Oh well, maybe a change to conservative policies will make the Liberals clean their act up for the future.

This conservative party is NOT left of Ted Kennedy as redguru so comically suggests. They have watered down all of their policies in an attempt to win an election because they know that the majority of Canadians would NEVER accept most of their policies and ideology. Stephen Harper's primary advisor is a neo-conservative AMERICAN for god's sake. What the hell does that tell you?
This Conservative party preaches about ethics? What a joke. Stephen Harper and Peter McKay deliberately circumvented our political process so that they could ILLEGALLY merge the ultra right-wing Canadian Alliance (of which Harper was the leader don't forget) with the venerable founding party of this country, the Progressive Conservative party. Not only that but Peter McKay, the current deputy leader of the 'new' Conservatives (barf), signed a binding contract with David Orchard in 2003 promising NEVER to merge the two stated parties. McKay, who is a lawyer (lmao), broke the agreement within days. Guess they didn't teach him about ethics and breaking contracts in Law School.
Further, the 'new' Conservative party (barf) is still illegally holding over $70000 of David Orchard's money from the 2003 PC leadership campaign. Leadership candidates turn over donations to their campaign along with a $15000 returnable registration fee to party headquarters who make an accounting of it and then return it to the candidate. Two years later and after a lengthy court battle, David Orchard is still waiting for the ethical Conservatives to return his money.
This 'new' Conservative party (barf) only exists because David Orchard threw his delegates behind Peter McKay in the 2003 Progressive Conservative leadership race. That support was based on a SIGNED agreement with McKay NOT to merge with the Canadian Alliance. What the holy hell does this party know about ethics?
Anyone that votes for this party is ridiculously uninformed or should be living in America.

As for the Liberals, they have proven that the cycle in Canadian politics just repeats ad nauseum. The Liberals maintain power for a significant period of time. The Liberals get smug and the Canadian populace grows tired of them spinning their wheels and accomplishing little. We elect the Conservatives. They start implementing Conservative policies, we all gasp in horror and vote their asses out in the next election. Re-enter the Liberals.
I don't think the Liberals are deserving of my vote this time around although I would vote for them over the Canadian Alliance 100 out of 100 times. I will be voting for Mr. Layton.

You said it best... we elect the Conservatives, we all gasp in horror when they start implementing their shit, then we re-elect the Liberals next time around. Isn't this a GOOD thing? What this will achieve is send a message to the Liberals to clean their act up. Everyone needs to be knocked of their high horse every now and then so as to keep them humble. This is why I'm going to vote Conservative. We will have to endure a few years of shitty politics (what else is new eh?), but in the LONG-RUN it will improve the Liberal platform.
