Can you use 23g 1.0 needles for Butt Shots

The problem with 1" is if the needle separates from the hub--it will be difficult to retrieve. Use 1 1/2 " for safety--you NEVER insert the needle up to the hub anyway..if you are doing this with 1", then you can get into trouble.

Fuck am I feeling bitchy today. Fina rocks!

Anyway...

Are you actually a doctor? I don't think that you are. If you were you would know that it is risky to only partialy insert a needle. What would happen if you inadvertently shove it in just a bit farther and enter a vein? Or if you pull it back a bit and into a vein? That's the reason you put it in to the hilt and then aspirate.

And who the hell has ever broken a needle off in their ass? Come on. They are not hardened steel. They are soft. Try and break one, I dare you. It will just bend.

Done lots of glute injections, always with a 25g 1" pin. Never had a problem, maybe a little slower than with larger pin. Anyway, if the oil is slow just run the syringe under hot tap water for a minute or so.

yes

are you serious? i have a tough time getting the gear through a 23g needle. anything smaller it just wont work

i am very serious. Even Primo goes through a 25 g.

A rule of thumb: you always put the needle "all the way" in.
So it will stay in position, less change to get into a vein AFTER you pulled back.

I've heard that putting your pins in the freezer makes them go in all the easier. Never tried it, 23 gauge 1.5 don't seem to bother me that much.

Gorilla, you are mistaken. I am a doctor, but I learned how to do my injections in school many moons ago. We are taught safety first, not stupidity. If you insert up to the hub, you risk breakage and separation. I have always used a 23g, 1 1/2" to keep the depth without inserting the needle up to the hub. You can do whatever you want..I just do what has worked for me for over 14 years.

Zyg had a good suggestion if you're worried about moving the needle once its in and don't want it to the hub. Just cut one of the plastic caps so that the needle is the right length for the injection, then go ahead and use the 1.5" and shove it in 1.25 " or .5" or whatever.
