Before the paper labelled primos came out, it was easy to tell the fakes because you could use a knife to scratch off the writing and the really cheap ones just rub off with your thumb. My suspicion is that if it will not scrape off with a sharp object, then the writing is etched. I imagine fakes/counterfeits do not go this far, but who knows. Personally if it won't scratch off, I would choose to take it.
