Can something seriously bad happen if you inject into an artery??

I'm not asking for my self(you got to be a fuckin moron to do this), This kid I work with was telling me that some of his dipshit friends were "shooting up" gear into their veins like a herion addict.

He was totally serious too, I told him that it was intra-muscular and the right wayto do it(better than them shooting the shit into their fuckin arterys).

What can happen if gear is shoot into an artery???

I'm not sure what the effects would be on doing this intentionally over a period of time (I've never heard of anyone being that fucking stupid!) All I do know is that if you hit one on accident, what happens is usually your heart rate will increase then you get dizzy & pass out. It sure as hell can't be good for you.

Injecting in a major artery like the femoral artery which supplies blood to your lower body would leave him passed out on the floor bleeding to death unless he has a special medical crew on standby to stop the bleeding. Tell him to prove it. I do not believe this BS. Oil in the blood stream alone would kill him.

I don't know the kid personally, but the guy I work with was serious and he was concerned(b/c even he wasn't that stupid) about it.

They were injecting it into the vein/artery that is at your elbow joint(where you would normally get blood drawn) .

The kid is 21 and I did'nt start talking about it, he knows I have some knowlege of it and he was concerned about his friends.

It might be unprofessional, whats worse being unprofessional of ignoring it and possibly letting some uneducated kid hurt himself or die???
