Can proviron be used as an anticatabolic while dieting?

Proviron is a strong androgen indeed but that goes mainly for the brain receptors (hence the libido boost) however at muscle level it's binding properties are pretty pathetic, it's anticatabolic properties are comparable to a prohormone's... as a matter of fact it converts to a something-diol before reaching the muscle.
 
I don't know about the brain receptor thing. Proviron is DHT and DHT is responsible for libido and erectile function. However, proviron isn't tremdously anabolic so I'd venture to guess it isn't all that anti -catabolic. BUT...the catabolism from dieting is WAY overstated -- unless you're in a starvation state.
 
No offense Nelson, I have great respect for your vast knowledge, but to say Proviron is DHT is a little inaccurate to say the least... it's a DHT derivate, that's true, but so are Winny, Anavar and many other.
 
True, but it acts as DHT once it's in the bloodstream --similar to Winstrol but much more effectively. I doubt if the conversion to DHT from Anavar is substanial at all.
 
Proviron (mesterone) is a derivative of DHT and falls into the androstane group of androgens. At normal dosages of 50-200mg/d the drug provides little in the way of anabolism. However the possibility of using this AAS as a diet drug does (and has) have some value some may not consider. Proviron is an anti-aromatase meaning that it inhibits the aroamatase enzyme function of converting effected AAS into estrogens. One of the reasons that adipose (fat) tissue is so stuborn in giving up the goods is that estrogen is anabolic to fat. For this reason any decrease in estrogenic activity also results in a decrease in fat anabolism potential. During a period of calorie deficit the limit in nutrients coming in requires the body to react with a sort of feeding hierarchy. Hormone profiles (levels) decide who gets food first and who goes without. In a high androgen environment/low estrogen environment the favored feeders switch toward muscle. This in itself increases the amount of calorie expenditure from adipose tissue during below maintenance calorie periods. In short more fat is burned to supply energy for muscle.

Good point Author. I was addressing the anticatabolic effects, but of course, less estrogen means less fat.
