Can people with bad genetics compete??

CB38AC said:
Here's my dilema...

I want to compete one day but I have VERY bad genetics. I've done very large cycles and not gained and now have decided to not come off for a year or longer but even with all this I'm maxed out at 217 at 5'10 without beeing very cut. I follow a perfect diet along the lines od dog crap's guidline but have to modify it because my body wants to gain fat before muscle...

I see people around me do one cycle a year and eat 100 grams of protein a day and drink 2-4 times a week who are much larger and more cut than I am. I know I have the desire to work harder than anyone I know but what can I do to beat these genetics freaks?

Yes it is very true that not every one has the same molecular structure...........

If you are not deformed geneticly then you should be able to compete has a BB without any problems............

A true Champion in BB has the Hart and Determination that very few people have because not everyone can endure the mental and physical torture that is need to make it to the Top of the BB world and stay there........................

It seems to me that your main problem here is lack of confidence in yourself till you believe in your self you will never attain any goals in anything that you do in your life..............

GH, Diet ,As , intense training, rest, determination and confidence that is what you need................

haha i meant 300mg deca oops...

and it wasnt crap gear on just 500mg of the same test my friend put on 15 pounds for his third cycle

Looks to me like you have your carbs and proteins backwards. You aren't eating near enough carbs to put on an appreciable amount of size. If it wasn't for the oatmeal cookie I would think you were on a cutting diet. Nobody could put on size eating like that. You seriously need to eat about twice what you are eating, especiallly if you are a classic ectomorph. Gear is not the end all of growth, if you had eaten like horse during your cycle you would have had much better gains. You are eating a ton of protein to build muscle, but without an alternate energy source (fat, carbs) your body will not use the protein to build muscle. Do the best with the genetics you have. I know SO many people (as does everyone on this board) who always talk about their bad genetics, and they train like bitches and live on hot dogs and coke. I get tired of people saying I just have good genetics. Do these people puke when they train legs? I do.

The ultimate ectomorph

Dude, crappy genetics is no obstacle! I've competed nine times and never have placed better than third. But my knowledge, shape and size have gotten better every time. It's about lovin' it too man!!
The first time I ever weight trained was at 23 yrs after four years in the Marines. I only weighed 135lbs, at 5'10"!!!!! I've gotten as big (chubby) as 220. How? Eat, eat, eat. Then when there's no food left, go over someone else's house and eat.

Yeah, and then when that person is out of food, kill him and his dog, shoot 'em both up with a gram or so of gear, and then barbeque them up and chow them down too!!.....now thats when you start gettin' big......I got to around 275 doing this exact method....you will too.....:D

Yeah but you were competing mostly natural in non-tested shows where most everyone was juiced pretty good.....

That is definitely a dis-advantage.....

On the subject of guys with bad genetics competing, have you seen Dave Palumbo? Look how far he has taken it. His body is put together horribly, weird shaped thighs, thick waist, narrow clavicles, and he is still a top National competitor. He got 2nd or 3rd behind Toney Freeman and Matt Duvall I believe. I realize that a bad genetic structure doesn't necessarily relate to a pre-disposition for muscle growth, but it's hard to argue that he has good genetics for competitive BBing.

Ectomorphs got it easy!

Try beeing endo but putting on fat before muscle...

on that diet I outlines I put on fat pretty fast without muscle and my calories are high...

like 300 grams carbs 400 protein and 150 fat... about 4000 cals

The diet is along DC's protocol and allows me to keep from getting too fat...

This winter i might throw in the towel and get fat but when you have a thick abdominal walla any fat you hold looks horrible...

Even at 6-7% my stomach protrudes, it is ripped and vieny but still very thick and wont show lower abbs...

I'm working my best to get around this but I dont think volume is the answer... I tend to believe iron addict and DC's ideas about training. Not only do they fit my personality but fit me alla round better. After 3-4 sets total my body is done and I feel light headed if the sets are done with everything in my power and beyond. I've done high volume with more moderate intensity but like mentzer said, you can train hard or you can train long you CANNOT do both.
