Can anabolic steroids cause problems in babies whose fathers are using when they get

My cousin is 9 weeks pregnant and just found out her husband was using anabolic steroids when he got her pregnant. Can this cause problems and if so what?
She did ask her doc who said that it does not affect the baby, however I remembered reading an article last year that said new studies had showed a potential risk for childhood leukemia. I didn't tell her that however, not until I researched it more.

From what I understand it wont effect a woman if the guy is on AAS but it can cause problems if the woman is using herself.

No, sperm have a high turnover rate, it is not like eggs that sit around for decades waiting to be fertilised and being exposed to xenobiotics.

I've been through this twice, and have two great kids that were conceived on 3g a week of juice....checked with two doctors, one who was very against steroid use, and even she said that its impossible, it would have to change your DNA, which just isnt possible

Nope ... heard this from a handful of doctors. IF a woman is using on the otherhand then yes.

TBH id be willing to bet that 99% of all birth abnormailities are a result of something going in wth the female during the fetal development - they first 4-8 weeks are the most important, and often the women dont even know they are pregnant @ that time.

Yup, especially for women that drink regularly and/or smoke cigarettes. They may not know they are pregnant for a month and may be drinking and partying heavily during that time.

No, she should not have any problem! The only thing that I am seeing as a side from my 4 year old son, is that he really likes to flex in the mirror. Must be from the high level of test that I was on during that time!
