Can a Mod delete a karma message?

I had a karma message from a guy a little while ago....and I come back and it's gone.
I know it was there cuz I replied to it and hit back karma?

I had a weird bug two days ago where a message popped up in between the other messages...the timestamps were still all in order but it's as if the message that popped in was processed late or something.
