Canon PowerShot S3 IS - digital camera
Digital camera - 6.0 Mpix - optical zoom: 12 x - supported memory: MMC, SD

Main Features
Canon's extended zoom camera gets a bit of a makeover. An update of the S2IS, the S3IS is a sleek camera with a cool, black paintjob that says this camera is here to do business. The 6-megapixel sensor and 12x optical zoom combine to create tremendously detailed and versatile images, all kept in line by Canon's powerful image stabilization technology. The S3IS also has a strong video mode as well, offering 30 frames-per-second and stereo-sound that Canon claims can rival even standard camcorders. The S3IS is a serious camera with plenty of functionality, perfect for those who want not just long-range photographs but a long-range experience.

I'm not camera guru but i think it will take pictures

Canon is a good camera...their lenses are some of the best on the market- less distortion than most. this will do what you want it to, in this price range for digi cams...otherwise you jump up into the 2K-4K range for more of a pro level.

i think i was considering that one for myself.....usually can't go wrong with a canon...especially for the little compact ones

for taking pics of your ass it will be good enough.

:qt:

then again, Canon is known for superb lenses. The camera will not be small though, so if portability is an issue, look elsewhere

For simple autofocus digital cameras I prefer the Kodaks, but as far as digital SLR's you can't beat Canon.

Believe it or not I like to take pics of more then my ass :D I am looking for something quality but that is reasonible being compact is not an issue.

My last cam was an SD100 I loved it but it died after 4 years of heavy use.

just looked at that specific camera. Seriously, QT, that is like halfway between a standard digital camera and a digital SLR. I would just get a Canon 8MP digital SLR like this one

http://cgi.ebay.com/New-Canon-Digit...LR-Camera_W0QQitemZ300081196032QQcmdZViewItem.

then run through camera shops and pawn shops searching for older canon lenses that will attach to it.
I know that is why I picked it the price is far less then a digital SLR but almost all the features.

I have an old fully manual SLR that I almost never use anymore photography used to be a bit of a hobby for me looking to pick it back up.

What brand? Maybe you can ebay a digital SLR body that would match up.

I've got an older powershot. Works pretty good. You can either set it up to point and shoot, or set it to M and you can manually set, speed, aperature, ISO. I'm not sure how the new one is, but there is annoy little delay between the time you press the button and get the shot.
I got a battery charger for the 4 AA's, I need recharge about every 2 months.

holy crap i was just looking at that same camera yesterday. i like it because its like a slr 35mm camera but digitial. lots of cool gadgits you can buy for it for even better pics.

QT, if you get the teleconverter and wide-angle converter for that camera it may be a great buy. You can get a 1.5x teleconverter or a .75 wide angle converter that will attach to the end of the lens.

I am not an ebay fan most of the stuff is located in the states then you have to pay take and duty when it comes accross the board so there is no real savings in my eyes. I don't have that many lens from my old slr so not really an issue.

I've read a lot of reviews on it. No complaints to speak of. Go for it, I doubt you will be displeased. You'd probably get a decent resale on it, if you step up to a digital SLR.

I thought this was going to be a thread about wanting recommendations for a digital video camera so you can start your amateur porn career, that big decision you were trying to make....

I need a camara myself...I was just using my son's hp and it took awesome pictures but he ended up dropping his skateboard on it and broke the lense!!! I was more upset than him because now I don't have one either!!! lol

you can take ass pics indoor.

show us the quality stuff

Too late I guess, but anyway..

Ive done the research, and IMO, the S3 is the best NON SLR Digital cameras out there. Due to the Canon imaging system(focus, exposure) the huge zoom, image stabalization and the cool pivoting LCD screen on the back. Should allow you to take better ass shots of yourself.

And 6 mp is enough for great image quality, and you won't notice it isn't more.

It's the one I will likely get when I finally make up my mind to not go DSLR until the cost comes down a bit more...

Hey super, I've got a couple of questions for you.
How long of a 640x480 movie can you record on a 2gig card?
How long is the delay after you press the button?

Thanks Y then I did good :D Yeah I saw the DSLR next to mine they are twice the price. I just didn't want invest that much right now. I got talked in the extend warranty but it was only $65 so I was like fuck it may as well. I playing with the pivoting lcd last night. I love love love this camera.

Jestro with a 2g card at about 15 frames per sec I think it would hold about 12 minutes.
