Decided to flat bench for the first time in a couple months tonight.........bad idea.......I felt pretty stong...in fact I felt very strong..(could be the 3 double cheeseburgers and large chocolate shake I had at 11:00) anyway.....I worked out with a guy who I haven't seen in about 6 months.....and he was flat benching so I said fuck it....what the hell......I felt real good all the up until 495.......and then whammo.......my lat felt like it tore again.......doesn't look torn...no bruising.....and I'm scared to go back to my doc...because he told me to "ease" back in over the next 3 months... ..yeah right.....I felt good until the 5th rep....and then my whole right side felt like it was on fire......I guess I'm going to my doc in the morning with my tail between my legs......:(

Shouldn't of gone up to 495 on your first time back... geez. It's prolly not torn, but you must have strained it... didn't give enough recovery time.

Bro wtf you jumped into 500 lb bench first bench workout?

You may be paranoid though, all the cases where something tore there was always bruising and swelling, so lets just hope it was a stinger or something

One more thing On training board they have a lot of stickies for active recovery, where you basically work the injured bodypart upto 4 times a day, sometimes twice a week with really light weight to flush the injured bodypart with blood and make it heal faster. You should check that out...

Yeah I'm already doing that......and no it was not my first chest workout since being back.....I just went super light on last Fri...serves me right....I felt strong so I kept going......oh well live and learn......oh and the fuckwad I was training with. say's....."wtf you used to throw that weight around, I told you when you quit the juice you would shrivel up" I said "Do I look shriveled up you little bitch, I'm coming off a torn lat" he just looked at me with that "yeah right buddy glare"....... ....

WTF.. what an asshole,,,.how much did he bench? Bro I think you will be fine, I dont think you would be here typing if you would tear it again. You'll be ok, but stick to high reps and lower weight from now

Nah....the night I really tore it...I went out for my buddies b-day.......ain't no thing but a chicken wing........wish I was nice and skinny like Decem..;) ..so I could hold this ice pack on it a little easier......

First off, fuck that guy. I'd like to take a plate and smack it on his head. Typical jealous screw ball.

Second, what the hell? Almost 500 already. You have balls of steal. When I cam back from a torn intercoastal, the most I would do on an incline was 250-275 for weeks (I haven't done flat in years). I give you credit for being that fearless. Although I hope nothing is torn.

Take some hots baths, and have your wife or g/f rub some biofreeze or bengay on it, and relax. I'm sure it was nothing more that just a slight 'upset'. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

That was rather Stupid

YOU, yes

YOU

you are STUPID

Ice it down, heat it up, ice it down, heat it up.

Give that shit the rest it needs, preassure bandage wouldnt hurt either.
you're a monster looking dude, so you probably know all the shit there is to know. but sometimes its hard to stop oneself.

Not that anyone here probably gives a rats ass.......but it wasn't another tear...:D ...just a minor strain.....I'll be back in the gym in a week.....and be going much slower.......

that is all carry on.......:)

good to hear that broly.... btw why you so weak... 500 for 5.... you use to throw that weight around????

i've finally figured out that flat bench is an evil exercise. It doesn't mess up my lats but OOOOOOO my right shoulder. Go just a tad too heavy and I'm working ice-bags and 800 mg of ibuprofen 3x/day for weeks. Not worth the pain (pardon the pun).

Good to hear........reckkon I would have more than a minor strain if I tried 495 :)

I wasn't trying to be funny, but If I could bench that much (damn you very long arms) I would do a couple of pl meets, just to see what I could do.

I agree....

495 for 5 roughly translates to 570 for a raw single. If the took the time to learn how to use a shirt then 700 is within reach. It seems to me that getting 100+ from a shirt is becoming more and more common.........

Definately, There is a chap on here who can do 500 suited, but 340 is a challenge raw. I'm not trying to open up the old equipment debate, but all I'm saying is DAMN.;)

Equipment is part of the sport........for better or for worse. Its all good really.........

495! fully suited and booted up in powerlifting aids would translate to something around 700.

Before I ventured down this vain path we lie to call bodybuilding...I was a competitive PL for 5 years....my PR on flatbench with a single denum shirt is 665.......700 never even felt like it was close......I have always had more endurance than 1 rep strength....at one time 495 for 9-10 was obtainable....not so sure anymore....:( ....course I look better.....:D

pitbull's wife? wtf you forgot to sign off his screen name again?

665 with single denim? Thats only 35 pounds astray........most people here add double that to their actual lifts just so they sound respectable :)

Why did you switch over to bodybuilding, just out of curiosity?

got tired of being so sluggish...I was close to 300 lbs....and no longer felt healthy....I have a little girl...and I like being able to be flexible enough to chase her around....plus she turns 5 next month, and I am going to coach her soccer team.....this is something I never would have been able to do 5 years ago.....but if ya want the truth....after years of competing...(mostly college) I was never really a contender to be on top...at my weight there are guys hitting ridiculous numbers......and a 1000 lb squat...I mean come on what the fuck is that...these guys are gonna be in a wheelchair by the time they're 45......

I'm not hating...if you can squat 1000...shit if you can squat 900....keep at it...it's just not for me....I was never close to 900...and my knees are shot...Orthopedic tells me total knee replacement in the next year or so if I don't take it down from where I am now...and that's only 585 for the most part....

Ideally, I would like to get down to 245 and maintain 10%.... so the AAS use has been toned down to a bare minimum as of late.....

My family is my number one priority now....not gear or the gym....although the gym is still a very close second......I have accomplished what I can....and accepted what I can not.....so "bodybuilding" or training for aesthetic value as opposed to strength is both easier on my body and my mind.......

Oh and I don't want to sound like I am preaching...because I am not....this is just my stance as it applies to me....:)

Do you stay on at least some gear all the time? If so, do you plan on coming completely off of it eventually?

Geez...I took two muscle relaxers at 1:00....and they just hit me...I went back and edited my incoherent post......anywho....I am on 50 mgs of Winny V ED as I type this....this is mainly due to a wedding I have to attend in October....after that....I will evaluate where I am at.....and decide at that point....there is no cold turkey....so I will ween myself down slowly over the next few years......for example a winter cycle would normally look like this:

1-1.5 gram test

800 mgs eq

25-45 mgs of d-bol

and tren towards the end....

this winter it will be more like

500 mgs of test

400 mgs of eq

and maybe some tren

after that I will most likely do maintenance at

250 mgs of test on and off......until I am done......

hope to be off completely by 2005......

once again I am not preaching....things just got out of hand for me.......:)

According to my doc.....yes.....and it is with mostly his advice that I come off this way.......

How many years have you been on the J off and on? when did you start I guess is my question.

on for the past three years with only a couple of months off....

before that it was spotty.....and mostly uneducated guess work...as far as dosing and manufacturer.....

I stuck the first pin in my arse sophmore year of college.....

But didn't do it again until three years later.....

And then another three years after that......

Cool doc too.

Yeah my doc rules......:D

Been going to him since I was 12 years old...

Although...he still wouldn't help me get my arimidex....

He did go out of his way to educate himself, to help me taper down and slowly come off......plus he really helps me with my co-pays on bloodwork......:D
