calve pump's

buffalo

New member
I started jogging a few week's ago to get ready for boot camp and i am getting really bad calve pump's and my leg seem's to tense up by the front of my ankle to the point where i have to stop running and just walk around to loosen them up and get the pain to stop. I assume this is just due to not being used to running but is their any type of supplement that might help minimize the pump's and ankle pain? Thank's if anyone has any ideas.

I love how everyone who has probs immediatley goes for the supps. make sure you have good running shoes and start off slow. I mean like practically walking. you have to let those muscles adjust to the work they're doing.

I have the same problem and that program is working for me so far. I won't know for sure for another month or so.

bro, another thing you might want to check is that you're not tieing your shoes to tight. I had the same problem and my running partner suggested this...it seems to be working.

Guys Im ex British Army and the problem here is the start of good old 'shin splints'. The pain starts to move to the front of the shin and to the side of the shin just above the ankle. I had to have an operation about 14 years ago now in order to loosen the muscle membrane. Not nice. I think the medical term was 'composit compound syndrome', but dont quote me on it. Hence why body builders and people heavy up top dont make good runners. At its worse it felt like my calves would explode and my shins were bending outwards.................

I don't think calf pump has anything to do with shin splints. My shins don't hurt at all and the pain goes away within minutes.
