Calorie Shakes...

Ok, as for reaching 4,000+ calories/day I am having a terrible time with consistency. Im in college and with school, work, lifting, etc I have trouble getting the amount of meals I need each day on a regular basis. Money is a concern as well. I've heard good things about calorie shakes and am trying to get some advice. A couple years ago I tried the 1850 from GNC and it was 7 scoops and like a gallon of milk - a ridiculous shake that never blended well and always tasted like shit.

Anyone have experience with good products? Pass me some feedback on brands, pricing, & taste.

Also, will consuming 1500-2000 of those calories from shakes have near the effect of doing so with food?

I can't think of the name of a good one right now...I used to know a good brand but the company was sold and the pt is like shit now.
But try somewhere like massnutrition.com and check different brand names and look for a "gainer shake"
Those calories will be fine as long as you don't rely to heavily on them. 1 Gainer shake a day won't hurt and you will need all of the PT that you can get.

Making your own shakes is cheaper and better.

Base=milk, juice, or water

Protein=protein shakes, cottage cheese

Fat=Flax oil/seeds, olive oil, peanut butter

Carbohydrates=fruits (bananas are great), oats

Bananas are damn cheap, supply good calories and taste really good in shakes. Bananas+milk+peanut butter+honey+cinnamon+vanilla protein=heaven with lots of goodlooking :spatts: and :blow: Well... close at least

You can combine pretty much anything in a shake. It might take you a while to figure out what's good, but if it's not, just gulp it down and try something different next time.
