Caffeine and Creatine...Good/Bad?

Hi, I'm new here. I just have a question for you experts out there on creatine. Does caffeine have an adverse effect on your system when taking it with creatine? I don't mean literally drinking coffee mixed with it in but just having it in your system on a daily basis while taking creatine. My buddy told me it's bad and I'm wondering if I should stop drinking soda and caffeine now that I've started taking it. Would appreciate any and all helpful comments. Thanks in advance.

thats the same shit I heard from one of my friends

he told me that caffeine pretty much cancels out creatine

I dont know how much truth there is to that htough

creatine makes you gain water.
caffeine makes you lose water.
don't take both = one will cancel the other out.

By CCCp's logic, you should only not take creatine if you are using it to gain water.

Kind of like saying Anti-E cancels AAS out because it also stops water retention.

And creatine doesn't really work based on making you have a bunch of water in you.

I'm not sure about people who load and cycle craetine for a month, but for people who use it immedaitly after workouts with their post-workout shakes, creatine's role seems to be in expanding the anabolic affect of the protein you have just taken, and I don't see how caffiene could interfere with that.

Consider the large number of people here who ride ECA-type stuff *and* use creatine, I hope we can get a more sound answer than what we have so far, my own response included.

Any of the experts want to weigh in? BBF? Needsize? Walking beast? Coolcolj? Radar? Big for life? Macrophage?

I would agree, but I used to take high doses of caffeine while on creatine while I was competing, but to combat the water loss I would drink at least 2+ gallons a day! Unless you need a huge boost from caffeine I would avoid it while taking creatine otherwise you have to drink H20 in large quantities!

The negative effects of taking caffiene, to my knowledge, are not amplified in any way by taking creatine. Personally I've found that taking 20 grams of creatine a day does not add water weight, or any type of weight to me. At the end of a "laoding phase" I weight exactally what I did prior to it. In any event, yes caffiene is a mild dieretic, but it shouldn't interfere with your gains if you drink enough water.

I have to half way agree with bodybyfina and ccp....Creatine can dehydrate you if you do not have enough water...the more water you drink the better! Caffiene is a mild diuretic and can flush some much needed water from the system...i would say low dose of caffiene would be OK. :)

I'd suggest you stop eating junk food all together. If you are really concious about your body, you'd stop drinking those sodas (Dr. Pepper = 40g per can). Soda = syrup + water. I know a lot of body builders and trainers who are almost completely sugar and fat free. . . thats how you really get a great looking body. Eat natural, and quit eating the junk food.
