If the cable company finds out you are using a box to receive channels that you are not paying for they will kick you directly in the nuts.
These companies basically say you can buy your own cable box, so you don't have to pay for the rental fee of like $3.00 a month, but you need to report to the cable company the fact that you have it, so the can scramble the channels that you aren't supposed to have.
