C-ditty should work for Rick

BBKing - I'm starting my own business, and have my own firm. Just settled a case against Merrill Lynch... while I was out in OC... it settled for over 7 figures.

I have 3 clients of my own. I'm working with Fancy Publications on some copyright issues with one of their photographers.

Did I mention I'm starting my own business? :)

BTW... I'm published as well... my friend.

Rick -- I sent you the information via E-mail for the Dateline contact. ;)

That's good. I asked you on a thread if you were self-employed after you talked about interviewing and how you don't look like a lawyer and pay the consequences. You never answered. You don't like rapping with me so I bust your balls. :D You have to realize I am playing around on this thread.

I'm on the West Coast now, about to tackle the CA Bar exam this Summer, but my heart is in the Windy City -- no place better. You know what I am talking about (not the weather). :) If I pass the CA bar exam, God willing, I will have a license for all four walls in my office. :)

Just to rap:

What kind of case was the Merrill Lynch settlement? Where did you file it? Chicago? Fed Ct? State Ct?

Is Fancy the name of the publisher?

I had 3 cases in Cook County Law Division (on the side while also working at an insurance defense firm :nighty: )-- one settled for $100,000 (broken hip). 2 still pending. All through friends and family within a year of my license in IL (took PA/NJ one year before). I am from Chicago. How 'bout you?

A friend of mine just opened an office in Lincoln Park after 4 years with the State's Attorney. I'd love to have my own firm as well.

What kind of firm are you opening (or opened)? General practice or Copyright/TMs? It's tough at first, I know, and I too hate going into these fucking dorks interviewing for a job. Where did you open your office? Loop? West Loop? Where? Any partners yet?

I have a great idea for a class action. If you are interested in collaborating, let me know. It is right up our alley.

The case was through SEC Arbitration... no CA license needed.

It is Fancy Publications. I am very close to one of their photographers, who has had photos "stolen" from Dog Fancy magazine... well... Fancy doesn't really care... but the original photographer does... so I am going after the people who have misappropriated her photos.

I have my practice out of my apartment now. LOL I have enough clients in my many friends i made through school. I worked in the club industry, and am starting to take cases for them, filing with the city, etc... .after E2... business is picking up! :)

I like to do trademarks... but there is alot of business for me in Copyrights, Elder Law, and general debt collection right now. I refuse to do bankruptcy. Not to mention all this internet stuff. :)

Yeah... I'd be interested in hearing what you had to say about a C-action.
