Buying my second handgun.

I'm buying the cannon that I've always wanted, the Magnum Desert Eagle AE .50. My uncle owns one so I have shot them, and I must say I'm impressed with the recoil for such a high caliber handgun. The only thing is that it is kind of a heavy gun at 5lbs plus a box of 20 shells ranges from $22-25. So I won't be shooting it that much. It's just the gun I've always wanted. My other gun is a Walther P99 9mm. Kind of a big step up here...

Does anyone else own a DE or would like to comment on what handguns they have shot/own?

BTW........I WAS KIDDING ABOUT THE LAST PART FOR ALL YOU GUN CONTROL NUTS.

Hand guns are rediculous and should be banned. They do nothing but cause destruction.........flame away.

What are you going to use the DE for? Its mainly just a target gun. I would recommend a Sig instead. Great gun and less money.

Well, IF I could find the damn thing it would be a Ruger P-89 DC or P-90 DC....

I think my dog ate it.

Have a .44 DE, love it, great conversation piece. For some reason the .44 is louder.

Being an ex rangemaster I have shot my share and then some. After awhile you appreciate simplicity and funtion over sex and coolness. As far as auto handguns, the most reliable was Glocks, Sigs, H&Ks, Ruger and military .45 variants. Their are many other good ones too but those stood out. The standout trouble makers were S&W (autos, the revolvers rule) Berreta and Taurus.

If it would be a level playing field (i.e. NOBODY having guns) I would still disagree, but I would say you have a reasonable point, but I'll be damned if I try to fight a burgular off with a kitchen knife or baseball bat when he is weilding a handgun.

Not getting too in depth with the handguns kill, blah blah......but what about other situations? I go camping and hiking in remote areas sometimes. What if I come across a bear, wolf, etc......My Glock will sure be beneficial then!

Guns rule!:bigbuck:

Guns for EVERYONE!!

I have a collection of around 15 handguns, and 20 or so long guns...

I can hit a soda can off hand from 100 yds with my Ruger .44 Blackhawk...so don't fuck with me!, or if you do, don't stand real still, about 100 yds away!

This is what I own:

- S&W 3913 9mm

- S&W 686 4" .357mag.

- Colt Python 2,5" .357 mag.

- Glock 32 .357 sig.

- Walther PPK .32 ACP

- AR-15/M-4 .223

- Remington Police Magnum 14" 12 gauge

- and recently add a Taurus M44 .44 mag.

Now about the DE .50 AE. Unless you can hunt with your handgun (which is forbidden in many areas), there's no point to have this in your arsenal. I tried it once. Damn I thought the recoil of a .44 mag. was terrible.........lol The .50AE is mad. The handgun itself is too heavy. The ammos are expensive. And choice is very limited. Forget about handloading with this caliber.

If you're looking to get into the "big leagues", then you might consider these:

- DE .357 magnum or .44 mag. One of the only handgun chambered for these very popular caliber.

- Glock 20 or Colt Delta Elite (yeah the ol' FBI gun !) 10mm. I know this caliber isn't very popular but it's stronger than a .45 ACP and a lot more accurate. And if you're into handloading then you could use the .40S&W bullets.

- ANy Taurus, S&W or Ruger revolver chambered for .44 Mag.

BUT if you really want the strongest shit around, then wait 1-2 months cause S&W just released a new caliber with a new revolver to fit: the .50 S&W. 30% faster than any .50AE.

I'd like to thank everyone for posting their opinions on handguns and I must say a lot of you have some nice collections going.

I'm curious what you think of the glock 32. I was kind of interested in this gun myself. Pros and cons.

I actually could hunt in the area I live in with a .50 and the only reason I know this is my dad deer hunts with his ruger super redhawk .44 mag. I don't plan on it however. I personally did not think the .50 recoil was that bad. It would compare to the recoil of a super redhawk .44 mag imo. Basically, I'm just starting to collect guns. I have no real use for them except to go to the range and shoot them from time to time, and admire them. Some may call me stupid for this but it's just one of those "gotta have it
" kind of things. Hey, it's my money anyhow. :p

I was not aware of this and will definetly look into it. Thanks manny.

I remember back in the '60s when you could drive by a pawn shop and they'd have a sign in the window "Loaded Guns $29.95."

You never see stuff like that anymore.

The Glock 32 is probably one of the finest gun I've ever had. The .357 sig is basically a .40S&W ncked down to 9mm. So a 9mm kicked with the energy of a .40 case. Nice. Moderate recoil, falt shooting and high velocity. You can easily reach 1500 fps with this caliber (a 130gr). The only problem I can see for the moment is the limited choice of ammo available but it will change soon cause many LE agencies are chosing this caliber.

As for the S&W .50. It's a 440 gr flying at 1700 fps. Dunno about the energy but must be a shitload of it. It will be a revolver (S&W K-frame if I'm correct) with a 8" barrel. Here's a pic I found.

Good thread, I just picked up my second gun .

Its a Griffon 1911 combat .45 pistol. I think manny has praised it before.

Seems to be a well made and accurate gun, no jams as of yet.

Fits my hand like a glove, perfect grip and balance.
