Business has fallen off here lately........

I spent several thousand on better equipment and honed some skills and business was solid....so I raised prices.


No new business in a while.


Seems that most people pretty well shop for price as #1 criteria.


I am a photographer by the way.

Our rates have been falling because it is easy to anybody to call themselves a photographer and undercut prices. People in Denver are offering to do a wedding for $100. It is sick. I lose $100/wedding due to damage to a lot of expensive equipment on average. They are a wild day.

consult with newspapers, media, film, magazines, etc. outlets and get on their payroll and wait for assignments. Much more lucrative assignments and higher pay.

I pretty much shopped for price when looking for a photographer. Of course I checked out the pics he had first. They looked good, so I went with them. They were also a part of a wedding store where you can picvk up other stuff like Napkins, favors, everything really. An all in one shop. I got a lot of stuff there.

I guess they gave me a good price because of the "package" I bought or something... I was`nt really happy with the pics though. Thney were only OK. Oh well.

Another thing... I went to one photographer that gave a BASE price and if you wanted extra pics, you just payed for them. I regret not doing that. The guy I ended up going with just sold me X amount before hand.

I wouldnt even consider a guy who charged $100 for the day. Might as well have one of the uncles take pics

Got 3 seperate shots with 20 prints of each shot.

OMG I got ripped off. I faintly remember a $1200 bill and I think it went up when I wanted more pics or the originals. WTF? they charge you for the originals (4x6) when you`re leaving the place. They said they throw them out if you don`t buy them. WTF? lol

Throw them out? sounds like a ploy to buy more.
They keep them on file, however on the back you may see a faint copyright, this means you cannot have those pics made anywhere except the place that took them.

re-evaluate your position in the marketplace, and find a way to get your message to people who will pay you

make some partnership with weddding planners.....they probably draw some high end clientel

look into new markets

or, maybe you've done all that, just some suggestions
