Yup. That part is true. Cause people smoke joints without filters, plus take it in and hold it.
So all the trash in the smoke gets in your lungs and stays there. You can somewhat reduce the tar by using a water pipe.

to further expound on what john was saying, pot smokers also hold the smoke in their lungs much longer than that of a cigarette smoker, so the damage to the lungs is increased.
