Building up wrists?

forwardmotion

New member
Hi, I have very thin wrists which really get me down and wandered if theres any exercises I can do to bulk them up. I don't use the gym but have barbells and dumbells at home.

Any help much appreciated.

Strictly speaking, the "wrist" is bone + ligaments/tendons, which can't really be "bulked up." If you mean the meatier part of the forearm, then, yes, you can bulk it up. But skinny wrists can't be changed.

you can still build up the tendons inside the wrist with sledge hammer levering. But it will take a while to even notice a difference

I suffered with the same problem and the only assistance hasn't come through training. Instead it came through putting fat on. Not nice, but true.

maybe working your grip and forarms might help you out a lil but like everyone else said your not going to bulk your wrist up

I do think working the grip is an excellent idea, hadn't thought of it at first - but it makes sense.

You could use your dumbells to work your forearm muscles. I hope someone will put up some exercises here. :)

How would you suggest to bulk up his forearms (or in this case mine)

I figured this stuff was well known by now.

What exercises are the wrists involved in? Oh yes, practically all.

Increase your poundages with deads, chins, bench, OHP, cleans, rows - anything compound. Focus on that. Forearms will follow.

Also, if you feel like being anal retentive about it, throw in farmers walks, or some grip work, or some wrist curls. Ta-daa.
