I have an ASUS PL-DL Deluxe board, Twinx2048-3200C2 Corsair memory
I have a five disk scsi internal set up, 5 disk ide set up, Thermaltake Daimer Blue case with clear x side panel. I will also have twin chip liquid cooling and hard drive cooling. PNY graphics card with Nvidia Fx5950 engine and 20 inch sony lcd

I have a choice between these two processors, just trying to decide which ones to buy:

Intel Xeon 2.8 GHz with EMT 64, 800MHz FSB, 1MB L2 Cache, Hyper Threading Technology (active heatsink)

or

Intel Xeon 2.4 GHz 533MHz FSB, 512K Cache, Hyper Threading Technology

The board supports 533fsb, but was told I can change that to 800, it says it will support 512 cache, but the one chip has 1m which is better. The faster chip also has the Nocona core, where the slower one has the Prestonia core

Personally, for only 17 bucks more the faster chip is worth it.

My question is will I have any compatibility issues? I don't think so, but then I am not a hardware guy.

cache is king! My current box is all scsi but i'm going SATA with the next due to noise/heat problems. I need a 20" LCD panel bad.

Yeah, I hear that, I going to replace my ide with sata. They have western digital for 200 per 250gig drive 7200rpm I will get 5 of those bad boys. Need to keep my 15k rpm scsi for my scratch disks for photoshop and running finite element modeling and cad programs.

You think the faster processor will work on that board?

yes, but they will be internal and I need the speed
