BTN pressing helping oly clean technique?!

i've noticed ever since i added BTN presses to my workout, my oly clean technique has become much better. i haven't a clue why this is but i used to always struggle to get under the bar into a squat in one fluid motion. it seems to have started coming instinctively just a week after i started BTN presses. anyone have any theory on this?

Theory? Are you just talking strict BTN pressing? Not power jerks or BTN push press? Here's my take: they're completely unrelated, you're just getting better at the clean due to practice. And you happen to be doing BTN pressing too.

That's a guess. If you were doing BTN power jerks, I'd think "maybe." I'm just guessing though.

If I remember correctly, you were push pressing from behind the neck.....it could very be what protobuilder said, just getting better at both because you're doing both, if you're push pressing, it is possible that you are understanding explosive lifting better, and how to make your whole body work to perform one task as a unit.

I think it gives you a more balanced workout. By slightly changing your angle of approach your managing to fire a slightly different set of stabilizers and synergists from the same muscle complex- leading to more complete development.

For me, another major reason would be it gave me practice with figuring out what to do with my head when the bar was on the way up. One less thing to worry about. :)

core is getting stronger.

had you done a more supported shoulder press in the past ie. seated?
yep... till a few months ago. and yea, i guess biggt is right about explosive lifting being the connecting line.
