Broken Ribs

It took a good 4 weeks for my lower left rib to heal after a mud football game. It took 2 weeks to be able to breathe comfortably, I layed on my good side and on my back.

Has anyone ever torn their intercostals and or broken ribs, if so how long did it take to heel and what kind of stuff could you do to workout? And how did you lay to go to sleep? Karma for good replies, I'm desperate here

You broke something again? Was this like a scheduled thing? :( :(

it was a freak accident, I have been cursed lately as far as injuries go...I am not always like this, I went through three years of division 1 college football without an injury....and now recently I have been plagued...this one is fucking unbearable though, and there ain't shit I can do...

do you have a reclining chair...? it may be more comfortable sleeping sitting up instea dof lying on your side

yeah I am seriously thinking about doing that, I tried to lay down and it just wasn't happening, sitting here in front of the computer is about as comfortable as I have gotten....I may be posting all night.....lol

heres some entertainment for your injured ass

yep, i was on the wrong end of a crobar once and broke a few ribbs. difficulty in breathing for about five days, had to sleep on my back in one of those funny lounge chairs from ikea for a week. hardest part was sleeping actually. it also made me miss left on my jumper.

I had a slightly torn oblique muscle a few years back. Not the same as a rib break, but alot of the same pain I'd venture to guess. Tough to sneeze, cough, etc. Tough, if not impossible to do squats, deads, PCs etc. I tore it deadlifting somehow. I was working at a bar at the time, and remember when I had to change out a keg, I would practically be in tears from the pain. We had an old keg system where you have the kegs underneath the tap sytem, instead of running from the cooler itself. Anyhow, one night I was lifting a keg, and I heard it go "pop". After that, it felt alot better. In between that moment, and the time I initially hurt it, I convinced myself that I was going to have deal with the pain until it went away, rather than deny it being there. Basically brother, it just took time. That area with tears, pulls, or breaks is tough to mend any other way. Good luck.

I have broken ribs before. rest, rest, rest, and less movement. Tough to breathe man, tough to eat, shit tough to do anything. I stayed away from the pain meds bc I wanted to feel if and when I strained too much one way. The ZING lets you know when you've gone too far.

Best of luck man, this one is all about patience and caution.

I've broken a rib twice and it's goes pretty much like the others say. Light weights, dumbells preferred, no exercises where you really have to strain your abs. At least 2-3 weeks but only time will tell.

I sprained a rib a couple of times. The first time was so bad I had to sleep on my stomach on the floor for about 4-5 nights. Man that sucked. There's no way I coulda lifted then cuz most any kind of moving made it worse.

Good Luck! I hope it heals fast.

just rest man and learn to sleep in any psoition that doesn't hurt hopefully it isn't as bad as you think get an x-ray though just in case
