I snapped my humuras last weekend arm wrestling, and I was in my 6th week of a 10 week mass cycle. now the doctor is saying I wont be able to lift heavey for 8-9 months whats up with that???...is this true?when do you think I will be able to start lifting light weights?
well thanks for any replies,
STIFFLER:mad:

That sucks man. I would just stick with doctor's orders. You want to make sure you're healed completely before you start training. Start your clomid and chalk it up as a bad experience. 8-9 months is not that long.

hey sorry to hear that bro, same thing happened to my buddy it took at least that much time to get back in full swing, i remember him shooting deca to heal it faster.LOL
i dont really know if the deca helped or not, lay off the weights for now bro, good luck :)

I snapped my thumb in half and the bone slid down to my wrist in a fight and my doc said the same thing. 2 months later with cast on I was working out light. 3 weeks after that I cut the cast off myself and hit the weights light. By the 5 month I was back to normal. Dont worry bro it will be better before you know it.

Good luck

I broke my right humerous in half (spiral fracture) armwrestling May 18, 2000. I was in a brace for 4 months, then started VERY light physical therapy (2 pound dumbells and wimpy rubber bands). I also was using the Exogen bone stimulator (August 2000 - March 2001). After a couple of months of physical therapy, I went pretty much back to my normal training except with VERY light weights and high reps (15-25 reps per set). In February 2001, I went to another doctor, and for the first time we saw faint signs of bone forming. He said I would be back to normal with a few months. I started stepping up the training a bit, but still keeping the reps at 25. The one year anniversary of the break is coming up in a few days. My strength is improving, but my right arm is still weaker than my left. I have some bicep and forearm pain when working out, also. My muscle mass is nearly back to where it was a year ago. My arm was allowed to heal naturally, with no surgery, so that is why it has taken so long. If they had put a plate on the bone, it would have been quicker. I lost a great deal of range of motion in my elbow joint and shoulder. It took a long time before I could flex and extend my arm normally. I still don't have all the range back in my shoulder. My advice would be to start exercises as early as your doctor will allow (not heavy, though). Exercise is the best bone stimulator. Also, make sure you start stretching the joints (elbow, shoulder) ASAP or you will be sorry later. They stiffen up quickly. If you don't mind a big scar on your arm, it will heal faster with surgery, so you could talk to you doctor about that. Good luck to you, it seems like it will never end, but it does, so hang in there.

I broke my arm about 7 months ago.
Now I can bench about 110lbs.
I had a lot of nerve damage due to my injury, I also didn't have surgery and my bone didn't heal straight.
I have nerve entrapment which is causing me the most trouble.
I plan to see my doctor soon to talk about surgery to move it.
I also had slow bone growth. One doctor wanted to re-break my arm and plate it about a month ago. I went and talked to my other doctor and decided I didn't want to spend the summer in a cast.
Watch your eating. I was trying to keep my weight the same while I healed, but I must have lost 15lbs of muscle and gained 15lbs of fat. Didn’t really notice it until it was to late.
I couldn't do cardio (at least not intensely) for two months.
What sucks was the amount of strength I lost in my whole upper body. My back, shoulders, chest, you just can’t work them, then when you start back, you can’t work them hard enough to really stress them.
But thank God for muscle memory. My arms are almost equal in size, but my right arm is no where near as hard as my left.
Good luck, and remember to listen to your body as well as your physical therapist. I stopped for a few days against her recommendations and my strength went up quicker. They want you to exercise the same muscles sometimes twice a day, every day.

sorry to hear that bro..............but i would stay with my doctors orders.,or you could do more damage than good if you start back lifting to soon. hope you heal quick!

I guess this means you lost the match, No seriously

You should be able to start back light after a couple of months and be back in no time. Dont rush it.

THANKS FOR ALL YOUR REASURING COMMENTS, ITS MAKING MY DAY GO ALOT BETTER!!!
ps. i'm leaving in a minute to go to the doctors to see if surgery is needed, she wanted to wait a week for the swelling to go down. lol wish me luck
STIFFLER:) :) :)

I sell orthopedic implants and think that you will be back in the gym within 4 months doing LIGHT work outs.

The arm workouts are not your enemy, you will be putting equal strain on the damaged humerous doing shoulders, chest and back,

There is NO short cut, but with luck (and you sound young) in 4 months you will be starting back.

Stay off the juice until you have healed entirely!

I shattered 8 bones in my hand a couple of years ago.....it only took me about 3-4 months till I could work out again.....but your arm is different....alot of different things could go wrong with it.....so I'd just stick with cardio.....and wait atleast 4-5 months!!!

Sorry to hear that bro! I hope you have a speedy recovery. It may take 8-9 months to heal and it may not, take it easy and see how it goes. Best of luck!

I didn't think about attaching my x-rays the first reply. Here is one of my early x-rays in May of 2000. You can sort of see my brace holes also. I kept the brace very tight, trying to get better bone alignment. I'll send another reply with a later x-ray.

.... Here is my November 2000 x-ray. All the doctors said the alignment was great. No bone formation showing yet though. I was working out with light weights at this point, but some movements I could not do, like dumbell lateral raise. It felt like the bone was stressed too much. I don't have any later x-rays scanned. Let us know what the doctor said today.

i dislocated my wrist and cracked a bone in my elbow about 4 years ago. it took three guys to put the bone back into place. one guy pulled on my hand the other guy pulled on my elbow and the doc put it back in place. today my arm is 90 percent at least. don't worry about it, you will be ok.

8 MONTHS?

8 MONTHS SEEM WAY TO MUCH TIME, I COULD AGREE WITH 2 MONTHS BUT 8? MAYBE YOU CAN START LIFTING LIGHT AND WORK YOUR SELF UP. SORRY TO HEAR THAT. GOOD LUCK BRO AND BEST WISHES TO YOU.

Ouch, I've had my fair share of injuries over the years. I have gone months without being able to do upper body exercises due to lack of use of an arm or shoulder. Only benifit was my legs have never gotten better gains then during that time. Every cloud has a silver lining. Use it to your advantage and never look back. Good luck to you.
