I got one of them too, you can spot a raccoon in a tree from a half a mile with it.
i got it before my school went to big bend (texas) to camp for a week, and we would chase javelinas with them when it got dark, amazing flashlights

I've camped at Big Bend for 9 days, 5 in the Chisos mtns. Did you take the horseback trip to the "Window"

Maglite makes one with an led light powered by one AAA battery. It's about the length of a cigarette and twice the diameter. My dad has one and it friggin rocks. Comes with a key ring on it so you can clip it to shit or use if for your house keys.

I had one once, when the battery ran out i just tossed it

Nothing beats the MiniMag AA for small size and all around performance IMO.

Others are a brighter for brief periods
Others(LED) have longer lasting bulbs

But for All Around performance and durability, I swear by the Maglights.
Great warranties and support if something fails but it rarely does.

I have several AA and C models and even a Old 5 D cell Mag that I keep
in my truck for protection since it isn't Illegal like a bat or crowbar is..

I have two of the 2 AA battery ones, and the headband for one to make it a headlight. I too swear by them, I only have the 2D cell light for now, but plan on getting the 5D cell one.

Since you asked... Surefire M4 or M6 Tactical

http://www.action-lights.com/flashlights/surefire/millenium_series/m6_flashlight.asp?bhcp=1

M6
500 Lumens for 30 min
250 Lumens for 60 min

http://www.action-lights.com/flashlights/surefire/millenium_series/m4_devastator.asp?bhcp=1

M4
350 Lumens for 20 min
225 Lumens for 60 min

Tried them both out today... retina searing power, holy shit. I narrowed it down to the U2, the L2 or the L4.

I went for the L2, 15/100 lumens, great battery, highest shock rating. The L4 is lighter, but only has one brightness and its 65 lumens. At tactical power, the L2 will blind a person pretty effectively in the dark, and has a VERY tight and clear beam.

Damn, Y, the Surefire light temperature and beam quality really kicked the hell out of the others i tried, what a great tool! Do you own one?

No Chef.. I already own several Maglights or I would..
But a dude on a camping 4x4 trip last year had one of these types and everyone in the group was "HOLY SHITTING" all over it when he used it at night, and the brand stuck in my head.

100 LUMENS is way bright enough unless you plan to signal the Space Shuttle for landings or something..

HELL YES! Bought it yesterday afternoon, came home and yes, thank He who makes thunderstorms, the power went out about 7 pm.

Yes, 100 lumens is bright enough to completely blind a child for a few minutes.
