O.k... so I'm going to do a competition next fall.... When would be a good time to get the implants? I was thinking this October... but for those of you that have been through the procedure how was your recovery? Did you notice anything about getting back to the gym? How fast were you able to get back in, and did you lose any of your hard work? Also... any advice on what you think is better silicone or saline? Behind the chest muscle?? The incision area under arm or through the nipple? I have been doing some intense reading on the subject for years but wanted some feedback from those of you that have done it!
Thanks

I have a good friend that got her's done. She used saline and they went through her nipple. I can't tell you about recovery or such but I can tell you that they looked great. I've thought about having mine done for a long time and even have the name and number of the doc that did her's but I'm still to chicken. LOL

I had mine done last December. Thought I would be right back at it in a couple of weeks....boy was I wrong! It took me a full month to be back in my normal routine. I dieted and trained like never before the two months before my surgery to make sure I was in the best shape of my life just in case I lost some muscle. I did lose about eight pounds through the entire month. I went under the muscle and through the arm pit. I have very small scars about three inches long that you have to look closely to see. I am absolutely sure I made the right decision about having the surgery and very pleased with my results! Please pm me if you would like any other infor or my docs info/website. GOOD LUCK!

I went w/ salines (silicone wasn't available until recently or if you were in a "study"), smooth round under the muscle with the incision on the bottom half of the areola.. I'm sure the technology has improved in the last 5 yrs for more 'natural' look or whatever. I am very happy w/ my results and really the only time it becomes apparent that they arent' real is when I'm dieted down for a competition.

With under the muscle, the first 2 days are pretty much pure misery. Feels like an elephant sitting on your chest. After that its mostly just the tightness and random shooting pain as your nerve endings start to reform / recover from the surgery. I took a whole week off of work and spent most of the first 3 days sleeping in a recliner chair because I couldn't get out of bed without help. This sucks because my back started to really get sore. I had a massage therapist friend come in and give me a back massage (sitting up of course). I was off the vicadins in 4 days and just down to tylenol after that.

I moved everything I needed to access (e.g. food, medications, etc.) down from shelves or anythign that was above waist level becaues you just really can't lift your arms for a while. After 2 weeks I was doign pretty good except for driving - it was hard to turn around to back up or turn. I think I went out partying at week 3 or 4 - no bra. Otherwise you wear the compression wrap for a few weeks and then to a sports bra for the duration.

I was back in the gym just doing low impact cardio around week 2. By week 4 I was back to lifting but very careful w/ lifting my arms. About 2 months later I started up w/ chest. Chest training was particularly hard because I had to break up the scar tissue - it just felt really tight. I had the surgery Jan 14, 2000. By April I had started training for my first BB competition (in Aug). It took until June-ish before my chest was mostly comfortable. The doc claims the surgery shouldn't have affect my chest development at all. Based on my last show this past May, I have to agree :)

As far as what you choose to do, I'd research several different docs and get some consultations set up and just ask the whole list of questions and see what they recommend and also get them to have some references contact you and ask them about their results. If you haven't already found it, implantinfo.com has a checklist of questions and also gives you a process to go through to check the malpractice background of any of the docs you are interested in.

If you are looking to do a competition next fall, I'd probably suggest you do it this fall or next spring. For under the muscle, minimally you need a month to get through the worst of the recovery to a point of general comfort and probably 3 months to get to the point where you can do reasonable upper body training. For over the muscle, I hear girls are pretty much back in the gym in a week. Just my thought tho, I don't like the idea of a bag of saline being held in only by my skin. But that's just me. Its a good question to ask both docs & other people though.

I think it would suck to not be able to go outside in the sun during the warm months -- depending on the scars they don't want you to go out in the sun for a while.

I had mine done april 2001. I have silicon and went under the muscle with the incision on the bottom half of my nipple. I am very happy with mine. I decided to get silicon because the doctor guarantted that saline would ripple because of my low bf... I was about 14 at the time...

I was really lucky the first few days I was so hopped up on pain pills I really dont remember the pain... I was out of bed in 5 days and I could have gone back to the gym sooner but the doctor made me wait a month... I was back to full speed by a month... though I was really lucky.. I really didn't have any pain that I can remember but my sister told me she tried to talk to me the day after and I was completly out of it....So the doc may have just gave me to much pain meds...

It took me about a month as well before I was working out 'full swing' again. I was doing light exercises at week 2, though. I didn't notice much a difference in muscle mass during those 4 weeks, maybe a pound or two.

The first couple days were the worst! I wasn't expecting that much pain when I woke up from the surgery! But then again, I was just under 'sedation/local', and wasn't completely out during the surgery, so I wasn't as out of it when I woke up.

I flew to CA to have them done, and I was alone for the most part (a friend met me there as well, since she had work done by the same doctor that same day). We shared a hotel room, but couldn't really help one another because we both couldn't move hehe. Then 2 days post op, I flew home, alone.. carried my own bags, etc., and I was fine. You'll be sore FIRST thing in the morning for a couple weeks at least... Difficult to get out of bed. You don't realize that you use your chest muscles, etc., to get out of bed, but you def. do.

Oh, and I have 500 cc's, round, saline, smooth... When I get them redone, I'd like to go with Silicone.

OK I finally cam post about something I have experience with :-)

I have pretty bad ptsosis (sagging) and loss of breast tissue from working out, losing weight, etc. I saw the surgeon, and he recommended implants combined with a modified mastopexy (donut around the nipple) lift. I went with silicone and over the muscle. I weighed the advantages of over the muscle vs. under and decided to go with over because of the unnatural look when working out (my sister has them under) and because of the recovery time. I also read a lot on fitness and implant forums, and many women had gone over the muscle and were happy with it.

I also wanted to be a full c small D, so when he got in there he decided 400 cc would fill up the skin and look good -- I had been a B cup.

They looked gorgeous for about 3 weeks, then fell... My only option was to have a full lift, which was my second surgery. I had it done about 3.5 months after the initial. In hindsight I should have gone under the muscle then but I didn't really want to for the same reasons as before, and I didn't have the time to take off work (I'm a pilot).

In about 2 months, they fell again. They do look much better than before the first sugery, BUT they have quite a bit of sag. The only saving grace is that the nipple is pretty high, so they don't look as bad as after the first sugery.

I now need a third surgery to put them under the muscle and have another full lift. Needless to say I am dreading it, and have put it off already for more than 2 years.

So my advice is to go under the muscle in the first place. Good luck!

Well I had around the nipple scar on my first surgery, and it was almost invisible.

The second surgery I had around the nipple and then an anchor scar -- straight down from the nipple the length of the breast, and then in the crease. The crease scars went further than i would have liked them to, but he said he had to do that. I have to be careful about the bikini top so the scar doesn't show on the outside crease scar -- the right one extends further than the left. I need to have scar revision on the inside scars -- little flap of skin at the end of the scar needs to be taken off, but all in all its not bad -- still better, much better than before having the first surgery. I didn't want to have the full lift because of the scars, but I don't mind them now. I will have to go through it all over again and worse when I have a redo -- the pain from going under the muscle and then from the full lift again. You can understand why I've put it off....

I'm afraid I will get really saggy the more weight I lose. I'm a D cup right now I don't mind going down a cup but don't want them to look worse than they do now. LOL I have thought about implants but if your already full figured, would it make it worse or could you just have small implants put in to lift them?
