Bread, fruit and bars

1) Fruit : 1 or 2 pieces a day won't hurt you. it is even pretty beneficial

2) Bread : neither the best nor the worst carb source. In limited amounts

3) Bars : no way

4) Milk : low fat only

Fruit.. Maybe one a day.

Bread.. Only whote wheat rye bread.

Milk... Nah.. empty calories.

Bars.. SURE.. You have some very good bars like the Optimum's one which is both low carb and low fat and tastes excellent (3.5g fat, 35g protein, 33g low impact carbs). Detour is ancient history.. You have the Worldwide Protein Revolution now.. just like detour only tastes better and unlike the detour that has 12g of fat and about 18g of sugars. this one has 9g of fat (no trans fats) and only 2g of sugar... a winner.

Ya know Jkurz you better change your attatidue on replies. The 'LOL' and the 'study up' part of your phrase are really not nessecary. If you don't want to hear other people's opinion don't ask for them.

Yes, I call milk empty calories. Most of the cows are fed with antibiotics and shit, milk is full of lactose causes my stomach to bloat like a pregnant women, and I don't feel any satisfaction from it. It's protein content is also not that high either. Better dairy alternative is cottage cheese than drinking milk.

And I didn't say barS a 'winner' I said 'winner' on a specific protein bar. The Worldwide double layer Smore's bar is a new generation protein bar that is just as tasty as the detour bar (if not more) and is miles away from detour's horrible nutritional values.

The new worldwide bar has ZERO grams of sugars (compared to about 18 grams of sugar that the detour contains), just 4 net carbs (compared to about 25g that the detour contains), just 7g of fat (compared to the 10g that the detour contains) and ZERO grams of TRANS fat (that you can find plenty in the detour i would guess). So yes, in my book this IS a winner. Oh.. I forgot being any protein bar lover was never considered being 'IN'...

OK, since you said so, I'll change my attitude....actually bro, my attitude is pretty mild compared to some of the other bros on this board....Milk is in no way an empty calorie. It is concidered by MANY to be the food/or drink of champs......BUT, I guess you need to be able to stomach it for it to pay dividends.......wasnt bashing bars either. At one time? Absolutley! I'll be the first to admit, but I believe the newer age bar is 110% better than it ever was....better science, better ingredients, less shit.....

I'll agree milk's protein is pretty shitty, and as an adult, you don't need to be consuming it at all. Protein = tons of other sources. Calcium - brocolli has more.
If you wish to drink something that's carb content is all sugar, no matter full fat, lowfat, nonfat, more power to ya.

No thanks. However, we all have diff. goals, and we must do what we need to do in order to achieve them. I have found what works, so I stick w/it. That's something each person has to do for him/herself.

this was a good thread

I have found that in order for me to gain healthy weight I have to have liquid calories. I usually just drink a cup of skim between meals to help keep my calories up.

if milk is not your liquid calorie choice, what would you suggest? just more protein shakes?

What's wrong with milk's protein ?

whey powder comes from milk
