So im 21 and i only weigh 150 and im 5'7. i use to do alot of running, skating and break dancing. now all i do is work. I don't have time to go to the gym. So i just Do push-ups and sit-ups and. use a pair of dumbbells before i go to sleep at night. i just recently bought some protein and im trying to put on 50 pounds lol fat chance huh lol no pun intended.

I work out for about 40 minutes then i take my shake 10 min after, sometime i feel like working out some more an hour later.

any tips?

Welcome to EF!

Why can't you go to a gym?

I'm sorry to tell you, but shakes are not going to help you gain that much weight. Real food will though. Could you list your current diet?

Yep, eat lots of food.

And not being able to go to the gym is pretty limiting on how far you can get. Gaining 50 lbs is possible, and would take a really long time. However, you couldn't do it with doing pushups and situps. You'd need a full weight room and quite a few years of training to get to a solid 200lbs @ 5'7".

Push-ups and sit-ups are more for overall staying fit. If you want to build mass you have to move some weight.

Thanks! I just dont have time to go to them gym between work and my kid. My girlfriend is making spaghetti tonight, at work i eat peanut butter and jelly, steak about once a week, pot roast yesterday. I usually eat whatever my girlfriend makes lol. Right now im about to attempt 3 sets of 40 push-up and sit ups, then use my dumbells for about 20 minites. Should i wait 10 minutes or somthing befor i take my shake? and should i take it with water or milk?.... Im a complete noob... please help lol.

Discouraging... i guess i must invest in a weight bench.. and eat more... sounds expensive. can i gain anything from pushups sit ups and dumbbells (20lb don't laugh lol)? I appreciate the input.

50 lbs is a longshot bro . first and foremost you need to get your diet down . you need to be eating atleast four full meals a day. atleast. try eating things like chicken, tuna, beef etc... and you really need access to more equipment. i understand its sometimes hard to get to the gym with work and a kid and stuff but just a few dumbell curls and situps arent really gonna do jack. even if you can get a bench thats better than what your working with now. as for your shakes. i drink one when i first wake up with my breakfast and one within thirty minutes after working out. theres alot to learn on this site and alot of good dudes here that are more than willing to help you out. goodluck!
