That seems hard to imagine. Are you playing the futures?
he works there, lotta shares purchased through the employee stock ownership plan (ESOP) over the years.

dude, lestat, that SUCKS.

CDMA is gonna take a big poop in 2006. Satellite spectrums that allow dual usage is the new way to go.

It's down like $8 over the last 30 days. $47.70 to $39 ish. You have almost 8000 shares of Qfart? $320,000 worth of Qualcomm would make a nice payment on a house B

wait lestat you have 6,000 shares? looks like a $10 drop over the past month. might want to consider diversifying a bit?

I've got all my eggs in one basket bro, because of what you said before, Employee Stock Purchas plans and stock options, I've got a LOT tied up in QCOM man.

I don't want to sell off any because I'll take a huge tax hit.

We were flying high over $50 a share not too long ago.

I can't even log into etrade now without fucking crying :(

Oh and I know I could easily just cash it out and buy a house right now... BUT

You'd be surprised how far that money will NOT go here in San Diego.

AND

the housing market is definitely NOT where I want my nest egg right about now

fuck im depressed now.

im going to vegas and will probably lose even more $$$

I was all set to buy a new Lexus IS250 AWD loaded too, but since the stock took a shit I can't justify spending nearly 40K on a car.

check with your CPA, but you SHOULD be able to sell some of your shares without taking a tax hit. Here's how:

When you sell, you have to specify WHICH shares you are selling. If you sell 1,000 shares it doesn't have to be the first 1,000 shares you bought. I assume you buy shares every quarter. If you specify that you are selling the shares you bought say... over the past few quarters when the price was relatively high, then you shouldn't have a lot of capital gains tax on those shares (and maybe none at all if you are currently down on those purchases).

It's not cheating either, eventually you'll pay tax on those shares that you bought years ago at a lower price, just not today, you're deferring the tax on those earlier purchases. That way, you can sell some of it off and diversify without having to take a tax hit. I'd look into it, just in case.

Either way, the point is THAT SUCKS. But the NASDAQ took a huge dump in that time, so maybe things will stabilize soon.

My mom had 22 years of Kmart stock options. She was the NorthEast Loss Prevention Manager. All her eggs were turned into runny eggs.

Keep rolling your options but pay attention to the change in chips that are needed for the new satellite spectrum services.

Tax hits are no big deal when the alternative is watching your pile flush down the toilet

good advice from some good bros.

Bran, I am aware of the selling scheme you described, but also, I just don't want to take my money out of it now when we are down so dramatically in recent weeks.

I was set to cash some out when it hit $55 for the the new car!

When are you going to Vegas? My best friend and broly in higher acts of stupidity is heading to Vegas tomorrow, and staying for the whole week.

My friends manage the Venetian for Sheldon Adelson. We're actually building a newer casino just down the strip and closer to the airport.

Great choice.

Bor...I roll. My hook-up was the original manager of Playboy casinos back when they were the biggest and badest on the planet.

That's why there's a fat job waiting for you when you graduate...if you still like playing the game of bookie.

If it's something that interest you. Guys who put in the time can make serious money. Guys like Bill Weidner are sitting on $500 Million in stock options.

Not too shabby.

yeah bro, missed that e.

Ahh, okay. I doubt my broly is throwing down the cash for a 20-floor, suite-only place like that, lol, but I'll ask. I was wondering that last night, but never got around to asking.

Do you really get free drinks there? He was saying (he goes there every year) that as long as you're sittin' at a machine or whatever -- gambling or whatever you do there -- they ask you what you want, and just bring it out to ya. Must be a down south thang or sumpthin'.

lol, it's not a "scheme" but yeah, that sucks about the car and it's not good to sell right after a big correction. A 29 P/E is still a rich valuation for a company as mature as Qualcomm, but it's not like you work for some company that doesn't even have a positive cash flow and are risking the stock going to zero or something. you'll be OK. just hold off on the car for now :)
