boxers (and everyone else)..split advice?

SAGAT

New member
recently i've started taking boxing classes, which forces me to change my training split around a bit. before the boxing i did this:

day 1 back/traps
day 2 chest
day 3 off
day 4 delts
day 5 legs/calves
day 6+7 off

because of the boxing i have to change it up, i was thinkin;

day 1 boxing
day 2 chest
day 3 off
day 4 back/traps/delts
day 5 legs/calves
day 6+7 off

so....what do y'all (the boxers in particular) think? any advice? thanks in advance!

Tell us more about your boxing training. Is it western boxing, kickboxing, muay thai? What kind of exercises and conditioning does your coach have you doing? How long and intense are your training sessions? Are you doing it with the intention of fighting or are you more interested in the cardio benefits?

What are your goals in both weight lifting and boxing? And why are you only training (boxing) once a week?

i should have clarified a bit more. it's more of a course (in western boxing btw), 1 class (on mondays) a week for a duration of 10 weeks. it starts out by jumping rope, followed by some pretty intense ab work. after that, some shadow boxing and sparring. the lesson concludes with stretching and ab work once more. for now, i'm interested in the cardio benefits as well as the fighting, but like i said it's a course so i'm not sure how long i'll be doing this...oh yeah one lesson takes about an hour and a half, maybe a bit longer.

as for my weight training, i've been training for about 7 years now and am currently on the 5x5program (slightly modified for certain bodyparts), lately i'm getting more and more interested in strength as opposed to size alone.

so...that's where i am at the moment, hope i can get some suggestions!

Since it's only a 1 day/week course you are prolly better off just looking at it as a cardio day. If it was me I would just do it on one of my off days and not change the rest of my 4 day lifting split. Or if you need the extra day for other classes then the 3 day split you posted would be fine too.

well, the thing is, the class is only available on mondays so i'm kind of stuck there...guess i'll go with what i initially thought then! thanks for the advice.
