Boss volunteers my time without asking.

So last week while I'm on the phone at work I over hear my boss volunteer me to pack fund raiser bags for a school she and a friend of hers are involved in.

Strike 1 - She never asked me if I wanted to
Strike 2 - She volunteers my time - my day off - not her time - my work day.

Strike 3 - She never asks - just tells me when and says, "oh you don't mind do you?" and then leaves the room.

So she keeps talking about this and I keep saying in a subtle way, oh on Monday - my day off - right?

Nada - no response.

So do I come out blunt and say, that I don't appreciate my time given up without my consultation or do I give some bullshit story that I can't get there in time.

Tell her straight.........keep it polite and firm and she cant hold it against you.

I would definitely tell her how you feel in a professional manner (not that you would not), if not she will do this again. Good luck!

Velvett... offer still stands... we grab two back packs and go on an around the world tour... hike Nepal... swim in Sri Lanka... trek through the great Outback.

:)

She's passive agressive. I would just be blunt and tell her if she wants you to volunteer for something that isn't during working hours, she needs to ask you first. Then tell her you already had plans for Monday and you can't help her.

WTF????

Thats just plain weird.
I cant even fathom my boss doing that.

Yell "volunteer THIS, bitch" , then kick her shin, give her a purple-nurple and finish it off with an atomic wedgie (hopefully shes wearing a thong)

Tell your boss: " The next time you commit me to something, could you let me know.. I might have prior engagements and not be able to participate in what you signed me up for..."

Gotta put a foot down or she'll keep volunteering you for things that you find out after the fact.

Sofa, could I take your place on this trip, Thanks!!!:D

20 pound sledge to the forehead should get the message through that thick skull.

thats actually wierd of her and totally oiut of line

your call as to whether she will use it against you. i have a feeling if you were totake this you would experience this shit over and over again. maybe best to nip it in the bud while u still can politely

Damn! I was hoping you could turn in your time sheet for DOUBLE OVER TIME plus mileage! :)

LOL

If I was paid for my hours over 40 - I'd own the business because they'd be out of business.

Hopefully you have already realized the importance of stealing stuff from this company by now.

Of course you could have simply dropped the line:

"Let me call my parole officer and see if that 'not going within 100 yards of a public school thing' still applies since I took the anger management class."

Why don't you volunteer her for stuff.

Just let her know that you signed her up to teach a health class out at the maximum security prison. She needs to be there tomorrow at 7:00 pm, she shouldn't wear a skirt and don't forget to have her update her life insurance.

:lmao:

When you go into "max" there is usually a sign out front that says:

"We do not negotiate for hostages."

I don't have a chance to read all the posts right now, but that would make me angry.

You just have no idea how funny that would be.
