They are checking ID's and scanning them for backround checks on MANY people - MANY OF WHOM ARE AMERICAN. I am not by anymeans foreign looking and they asked for my ID (not new) and did run a check in the computer (definetly new).

FLAMERS GO TO THE CHAT BOARD - IF YOU WANT TO TALK SHIT DO IT ON SUBJECT THAT WON'T GET GOOD PEOPLE OF THIS BOARD BUSTED - THIS CRAP IS GOING ON ENTIRELY TOO MUCH - DO NOT SPEAK ON WHAT YOU DON'T KNOW ABOUT - just b/c you cross the border and they didnt scan you or the guy in front of you that does not represent everyone that goes through, or did you stand there and watch 100 people go by? yeah right try standing around the border right now, youll get detained for a few hours.

Right. Basically--as far as I can see--the only change is a required ID & a few extra questions--if your on foot. A quick check, rather than the usual wavethrough, if driving.

our source here is all but dried up due to tighter security at the border, that i can tell you is a fact. all of our gear comes out of mexico.

So yes there is enough time in the day for them to do that (you do know that even though less people are crossing that it is taking considerably more time to cross right?) That point alone nullifies almost all of your statements above - you see its very possible and probable if they intend to tighten security. You make it sound like the check takes 10 minutes, it does not - it literally takes about a minute maybe even less (I didn't have my stopwatch out.)

And as far as who cares about having warrants - that wasnt even an issue you had stated:

I am not "Arab" or terrorist looking, had no gear or anything illegal so no reason to be nervoius, am america/anglo in appearence, had a proper California ID, had no bags, and am not freaky big and they stopped and scanned me. And 'as far as you can see' you left out the fact that they are logging/scanning peoples ID's/Names although not the majority they are doing it and it doesn't appear rare.

I was stopped at the Nuevo Laredo crossing awile back & it took them like 20 minutes to scan me. Even if it takes as long as YOU say, there aren't computers at every border agents turnstyle(walking across). These computers are in a secondary inspection area & are used on people who are taken there because of suspicious behavior or profile. Your facts are wrong man & Im starting to wonder how much supposed experience you have doing this. Not enough manpower OR time & your exageration of the amount of time it takes to scan you, in order that you can look like you know what your talking about, is lost on me. YOU my arrogant bro are the one who's twisting the facts so you can win this arguement that YOU started with your little authority rant. And dont tell me to lighten up DAD!! I love this!!! A guy who's probably never been to ANY of the major US/MEX crossings telling who's right & who aint!! What was it pal? You saw that SLO has more posts than me & that he was a mod, so you figured you would earn more kiss-ass points by agreeing with him. I say that you dont know brcause if you HAD been to any of the crossings, you would know that SLO is twisting his facts around(for what reason, I have NO clue)in order to be right. He's exaggerating the amount of computers they have to do these checks by making it sound as if there is one at every turnstyle(walking across)when there ISNT!!! How much longer it would take to run everyone's ID through the computer is irrelevant. They could care less if the line back into the US stretched down to Ensenada. Those officers doing checks are there for their 8-12 hour shift and until that's done, they're not going anywhere. So they could care less how long they make you wait to get back into the US.
