This is going kinda slow, I'm assuming there are mostely everyone here but bodybuilders and powerlifters.

I think nobody is responding due to there being a post or two about this a while ago.

Anyways, powerlifter cg at your service.

former BB but im a born again PL :) will never go back
having said that i dont think this type of thread does any good because it seems to make a line between people on the board..there are too many stigmas attached to PL theyre fat theyre lazy etc which is so not true..youll get much better results on a PL routine than following some routine out of flex

I voted for BB but I am actually both I train hard and heavy. I go as high as 15 reps to as low as 3. I would have to say I train as a powerl lifter only to pack on mass, although I enjoy seeing my strength increase.

I want to know who I'm taking advice from, about gear, training, etc. Cuz I see some powerlifters giving bodybuilders cycle and training advice when they both train diff.

so what you are really saying is youre a BB (which is fine) but there is nothing you could possibly learn from a PL???

personally to be a good PL you need to learn how to train its what makes you good..continually breaking plateaus and always increasing your total..

Now if youre a BB dont you think you could benefit from that? i dont care what your BB goal is if you your bench or incline or squat is stuck at the same weight eventually you will not get any bigger

Maybe

I thought I knew a lot being a bodybuilder......when I read "Supertraining" by Mel Siff and "Science and Practice of Strength Training" by Vlad ZAtsiorsky I realized that I didn't know shit.

I am a former bodybuilder of 15 years and a powerlifter of less than a year. I won't go back to bodybuilding, but I have gained knowledge from powerlifting that I can easily apply back to BB. Keep an open mind on things yomamma.....you can never have to much applicable knowledge.

15years huh, well, show me what you have accomplished. Post a pic or two.

Its a gray area for me. Im a mix. I incorporate both bodybuilding concepts and powerlifting into my routine. I train for strength and size. I dont use powerlifting technique however. But I use one rep maxing, speed bench and things like that frequently. Ive heard the term "powerbuilder" and I think that better describes my training style. I always try to lift as heavy as I can, but at the same time train for size as well. Im not always real strict with some of my movements either. Form can get ballistic with the heavier wieghts. I always make sure to destroy the target muscles though. Always going for PR's as well.

I accomplished all I could. I probably reached my genetic limit without using too much AS. I didn't do it as a competitor, yet I might have done okay. I trained with a lot of great bodybuilders and learned quite a lot. A few NPC judges seemed to think I had a lot of potential as a light or middleweight so that is reason enough for me to feel good about my efforts. Maybe you should spend your time learning and reading. Pick up the books I recommended.......You might learn something.

If you would like to know what I look like, please feel free to ask Ulter or Monster. I think they could give you an idea.

That is exactly why I decided to do powerlifting Gjohnson. I just didn't enjoy bb anymore.

No, I want you to post up some pics.

To put it bluntly NOBODY will push people to post pictures to prove something to them, unless they want to go bye-bye.

I hope that I'm clear here.

As for the original question, I hope that we can all learn from each other. For me personally I use a little bit of everything in my training, powerlifting, strongman, and bb'ing type of training. I think that one of the most underused, but most valuable boards on elite is the powerlifting board, there is a ton of great information on there.

i just got a PM and it seems they want you in your thong doing stiff legged deads and they want ulter to get some video and post it all over the boards :chomp: are you in?????

You have to wonder about a guy desperatly wanting another guy to post his pictures...
"Dude. Post some pics then... maybe something from the back with you nice and oiled up, you know... for physique evaluation purposes."

*coughgay* *coughgay*
:D

Powerlifting by the way.
I got sick of the attitude and mindset of bodybuilding... I still want to maintain size and/or grow, but I got tired of the bodybuilding "old hens club".
