bodybuilders, transsexuals and the law

hold on this gives me a idea :) hehehe so they give trannys steroids to help there quality of life so lets say i dunno some1 is depreesed over being puny all his life steroids would solve his problem would they prescribe then for a depression case?

its allot easier then we think to have roids decriminalized it starts with a strong leader/figure head which rick collisn would be perfect for. but this figure head would have to be willign to do stuff liek go on talk shows, write articles for magazines after that it goes to use we must be willign to write letters to our congressman distribute flyers about the false view the media has put on steroids now i knwo nobody would stand on a corner handing out flyers im talkign just puting a stack of flyers at gyms ,health stores etc. hell id throw them over buidlings to distribute so everybody who can talk to rick collisn about leading the fight it can be done hey alcohol was prohibited for many years

They too are looking to physically enhance their bodies and change, as is a bodybuilder, so why the double standard??? What applies to you, should apply to me, in every case, it should not leave room for exceptions for only certain individuals…You are allowing 1 group of individuals to partake in changing their entire bodies, for what? Only different reasons…..both have the same goal in mind…to improve their life and their personal well-being whatever that may be. Its contradicting to say it is ok, for medical or psychological reasons for one group and not for another….we are protecting bodybuilders from addiction? Does that not apply to the transsexual as well????

Transexuality is not an addiction. It is classified as a mental disorder and with good reason. Transexuals believe that their gender identity are discordant with their genitalia. If you would have only seen the case studies on transexuals that I have, you might get an understanding of how difficult it is to live in the wrong body. Those who choose sex reassignment undergo countless psychological examinations to make sure that they are ready for the outcome.

There are severe cases of body dysmorphia, but not neccesarily limited to BB.

Anyhow, if using steroids is an addiction, then it can be broken. Smokers can quit, alcoholics can go to AA, but transexuals can't just stop thinking (feeling) the way they do.

I don't know the reason why they illegalized AS. It's unfortunate that they have, but then a new standard in BB would have to be developed. I can't even imagine a competitor on stage weighin in at 500lbs with .5% bf.

good thread, w6

The only thing that would change if steroids were legalized is that there would be less otherwise law abiding users getting busted for personal use. It wouldn't change anything in bodybuilding (i.e., size of the competitors). The AAS Control Act was a blessing in disguise for AAS users. If it weren't for the AAS Control Act, Mexican Vet AAS would still be shit, there would be few choices (little d-bol, no 300 mg/cc nandrolone, no 5 mg OX or 10 mg stanozolol, no tren, etc.), prices would be (are) sky high at US pharmacies ($400 for 100 2.5 mg OX or $1200 for 100 A-50, etc.) and Ttokkyo and others wouldn't exist. By continuing to keep them illegal, the govt. is making it better for AAS users from an availability standpoint. In fact, I don't think anything would change if doctors were allowed to prescribe AAS for personal use at this time. The price, availability and choices on the black market are far better than any US pharmacy. Only if generics were brought back would legalization work, unless they allowed importation of personal use AAS including those not approved by the FDA (i.e, d-bol, tren, primo, etc.).

As far as body dysmorphia goes, for some it is a pretty disturbing condition.

what saying thAT Havign them illegal is godo for availability r u nuts almsot all roids r contaminated atleast a little, second they wouldnt cost so much cause health insurance might cover it ,second every1 under the sun is geting viagra prescribed and they arent breaking the bank

OK; for starters, my qualifications: PhD in clinical psychology. Emphasis in health psychology.

Generally speaking, there are two types of diagnoses involving gender disorders. One is Transvestic Fetishism (302.3 in the DSM-IV). The other is Gender Identity Disorder (302.6).

What you have been referring to as "body dysmorphia" is Body Dysmorphic Disorder (300.7), which has nothing at all to do with transsexuals. BDD is a preoccupation with an imagined defect in appearance, in which if a slight physical anomaly is present, the person's concern is markedly excessive.

On to GID. This is the diagnosis that encompasses 99% of transsexuals. It is "a strong and persistant cross-gender identification (not merely a desire for any percieved cultural advantages of being the other sex)". It is also characterized by, "a persistent discomfort with his or her sex or sense if inappropriateness in the gender role of that sex".

IMHO, anyone interested in whether or not it's a valid diagnosis should read the literature regarding brain chemistry differences in "normal" people as compared with GID (I can get refs for you if you want). Essentially, the people who suffer from this condition don't simply want to look different...there is a HUGE difference between someone who makes a CHOICE to use steroids to enhance their appearance and someone who uses them to CHANGE THEIR GENDER.

Additionally, please realize that people with GID do not simply walk into a physician's office and walk out with a script for hormones.

Generally speaking, the "treatment" for GID involves at minimum a year of intensive therapy, a year of living as the opposite sex full-time, a year of hormone therapy to prepare the body for sexual reassignment, and ultimately the sexual reassignment surgery. It is relatively uncommon for transsexuals to be taking hormones if they are not seriously considering reassignment within the next 1-2 years.

The treatment for body dysmorphic disorder (which is most certainly NOT, by any stretch of the imagination, limited to bodybuilders) can range from cognitive/behavioral therapy to antidepressants to other pharmacological treatments. Giving steroids to bodybuilders with BDD would be very unwise and would likely not treat, but worsen, the BDD. If anyone wants an explaination as to why, please feel free to ask me. It's way to long to post here.

ok first of this is bullcrap changing genders should be illegal its retarded no matter how much test u pump into a women SHE WILL NEVER BE A GUY!!! same with aman he will never be a women it has no benefit it is sick atleast bodybuilders use roids to enhance there physical apearance and mr phd get real in todays society they teaSE ppl puting up models everywhere and built guys everywhere then expect no one to wanna be liek them this is retarded if a tranny can legally get test then anybody should be able to
