Body Fat%

I have one of those Tanita Digital scales and it keeps giving me a BF reading from 34%-36%. I know for a fact that I have lost inches around my waist as well as my total physique leaning out. I did a skinfold BF this morning and according to that it says that I am at 22%. Which one do you guys think has been known to be more accurate? I am currently 250lbs @ 5'7".

the digital scale is not very accurate.
I tried several ones in the store and the range was all over. I could not get a constant reading.

anytime a scale asks you to input your stats like height and fitness level I say its crap. its just guessing your bf%

My tanita scale has read the same body fat since I started hitting the gym again 8 months ago. At that time I had no -- read no -- muscle. Right now I'm not big or anything but definitely way more muscular all over. I never had these things called "lats" or "traps" or "delts" before lol. Yet my scale actually tells me I have LESS lean body mass than before I started. Right now I weigh 3 lbs more than I did when I started but now I can actually see all of my muscles. I would say that means I lost fat because no way only 3 lbs of muscle looks like that. I must have lost around 7lbs of fat and gained 10lbs of muscle, but it's hard to say exactly. So I say those things are only good for weighing. Not worth the money.

find a bodpod in your area and get a REAL bf percentage... its worth it to do it maybe once yearly to keep an honest track of exactly where you're at

Anyone know of a place in or around Westchester, NY that does the hydrostatic bf?

do a google for bodpod... should yield exactly the same results, also the bodpod has updated their software and will now give you a readout of your BMR/RMR when you do the bf analysis

Bodpod isn't that much more accurate...

Did you set your Tanita to the "athletic profile" as you did your settings? ...readings for athletes get better then (but I would imagine that people with alot of muscles might get an more inaccurate reading, especially if one would use AAS...
I have a Tanita bf-scale as well, I have serious doubts about it. But I didn't buy it to get those super-accurate reading, but to see "about-ish" where I am. But they are funny... In the morning, before eating anything, I have a higher bf%. Then during the day, say after lunch, straight after eating and drinking. My weight is up and bf% will be up to 4% less... I chalk it down to amount of salt and water in the body. But one would think that you would actually get a more accurate reading in the morning... Since that is when your weight reading will be the most accurate...

They absolute most accurate test of BF% is the DEXA Scan. It is primarily used to measure bone density, but it can also calculate BF%. Since it is a whole body scan it will tell you what areas of your body have what BF%.
