BMW 128 series

Guy here just got one. (It's a lease - stupid fucker - cue in Razorguns)

WTF? It's basically a golf cart with sides, a top, and a BMW emblem on it. I mean seriously, they are marketing this as an "entry" level 328 series (or 325, whatever... I don't follow BMW brands at all anymore after selling my little convertible years ago)

But if this is the entry level 328 (or 325 - whatever) I can't believe how they could have watered it down any lower. I mean, it's pretty fucking bare. And of course once you get a few decent options on it, you probably already exceeded the price level of the 328 (or 325 or whatever) that you were trying to imitate.

The back seat, while it "LOOKS" like a backseat is basically a leather covered shelf back there. Because when a person of normal height is in the front, those seats are basically only a few inches from the back seat. Unless you are under 6 years old and your feet don't touch the floor you are not going to have any room back there.

And it rides a bit hard too. Hard ride, hard steering, but of course they market that as "aggressive". Whatever.

its marketed to posers who really really gotta have a bmw but are all butt-broke in the recession. i think they look like shit sticks dipped in ass sauce.

The kind that lower it and put all those gauges along side the driver's door?

And a home made spoiler on it?

Or real estate agents.

i havent seen that level if poseurdom on the new bmws here in central texas. we still have the "vintage" 1990's eclipses and hondas doing that shit. guess we will catch up someday. But the redneck county above us is in a total timewarp circa 1985, complete with IROC-Z cars in the front lawn for sale, gotta clear out the agriculture growed up around the car. And all in "great shape" of course. These inbreds want up to $2K for a 25 year old iroc husk lololol
lol gauges in a 128 bmw. its probably no faster than a honda accord....4 banger.

Its like the broke asses that buy the mercedes hatchbacks that look like escorts..dont even have leather

I saw a 1 series that looked pretty nice. i'm not sure if that's the same model.

smaller obviously but the inside looked pretty legit

definetely didn't look like a golf cart

The 135i is actually a very fast car and rides well. I'd never get one, but I was impressed with it. The 1-series is basically the new version of the BMW 2002.

I want one!

BMW's are great cars, but the one I had was just kinda bland. The 335i was fast as a MF'er and handled nicely, but the car just has no personality. I don't think Beemers get interesting until the M series.

I totally disagree

i think the 1 series are perhaps the purest BMW's known

if it has the right engine in it there is no reason it cannot be held up as a classic

If I did not look like Donkey Kong in one ( I am 6'3 over 280) I would get one

Sir :)

I think the 5 series is sexy, but for the most part agree. The Merc C & E 63 AMG's are much more pure and sound unfuckingbelievable. If I had money to waste on a car it'd be the c63 AMG.

The cost of those accessories always kill me. $400 for an Ipod adapter that would cost $50 at Best Buy and $595 for a satellite radio that again would be less than $200 installed at any store.

Some BMW haters in here.

I love my E46, it may be old, but still looks hell good.

I test drove a 135i and I liked it, stiff, nice handling and zippy.

Can't really afford a new one, BMWs are expensive down here.

Not much change out of 200k if you get a new M3. :(

b0und (buying a new car in Oz = butt rape/no lube)

There's no point in getting a 128i. It's basically a scaled down 328i with no other benefits. I own a 135i and it,s a different story. Yes it shares the same engine with the 335i but the brakes are totally different (6 pistons front, 4 rear instead of regular single pistons), suspension and other details.

$4k ? Maybe $5k ? The 335i is available as a coupé and 4 doors so if you need some room, forget about the 135i cause the rear seats suck ass.

That is not a big price difference between the two.

Are the interiors the same? Gadgets, etc.?

thats awesome

thats why i feel its a PURE car

the 135 is a classic in my humble opinion

From what I remember, it's basically the same with some differences. The 135i is offered with the M trim and a few optionnal gadgets like a racing alcantara steering with info displayed on and a 12 O'clock marker on it. But otherwise its the same leather, same seats and cluster (i might be wrong but that was my impression). Honestly its the funniest car I've had so far (beats my old TT by far) but then its not like a need rear seats and stuff.
