Blood Work

conundrum

New member
What's the best way to get blood work done for cholesteral, testosterone, LH, FSH...ect.

I was looking to get blood work done prior to the start of my cycle, which I plan to start next week. I did't want to tell her why other than I like to get it done once a year for procautionary reasons and that high cholesteral runs in the family. (it really doesn't)

I went in thinking I had a good plan. I told her I was have libido issues from the propecia I was taking last summer, which I was, and that I haven't been the same since. (I'm fine now, it took almost 3 months to get out my system)

She ok'd the test for my cholesteral, glucose and over all testosterone level...but refuse to have my free and natural testosterone checked...she said it was a poor meausurement of the amount of testosterone in the body. So after that I didn't even mention the LH or FSH levels.

Why do they suggest you fast prior to testing?

To clear out your blood stream so they get accurate results of what is really in there. I took a whole list to my doc of what i wanted done, and he didn't test for LH or FSH, and what they considered to be normal levels of test, i consider to be low i was in the 300mg/dl area. I told him that i was having sex drive issues, first thing he asked was if there was any AAS use.

Fasting is for cholesterol + lipids and glucose.

Food affects the levels of these in your body.

You can insist on getting the free T checked. Doctors don't like to be questioned, but fuck it, she works for you. Or, you can say (nicely) you read somewhere that free T is a more accurate gauge and you're curious. If she still says no, just say "I want my free T checked bitch."

Fasting is mostly for cholesterol, urea, glucose and sodium levels. I don't even bother. I eat a light breakfast and if those numbers are a tad high I chalk it up to the food but they're always fine anyway.

^^^^^ exactly^^ you are paying her for a service basically,, even with health ins. you pay the premiums she is working for you.... tell her/him you are worried and want it checked bottom line,, you can always go to another doc if she is that much of a c*nt
its like going to the supermarket and having the cashier tell you that ice cream is bad for you so she is not going to sell it to you because she dosent think you need it... I bet you would take issue with that,, same thing with doc your money, your body, tell her you want the tests run...

The doc called and she said my bad cholesteral is high and my test level were on the low side. What can I do about them?

This is what you should be asking her!?!

Discuss the options and give it some serious thought before jumping into any HRT.

You can contact Quest Diagnostics or LabCorp. They are the big two Labs.
They might be able to assist , but you will most likely need a script from your Dr. So just ask him for a complete blood work up to include your test and PSA levels.
