Blood test results

Are you supplementing with creatine?

That can falsely elevate creatinine.

As well, if you ate cooked meat prior to your blood test, then your creatinine levels may be falsely elevated as well.

I eat a fairly high protein diet with a protein powder supplement and havent lifted in about 2 months now. the night before my test i had 2 chicken breast with a protein drink.

It isn't protein that elevates creatine, a high protein diet would elevate urea.

Creatine is a high energy molecule carrier (ATP) in muscle tissue, so eating meat = muscle, increases creatine and its breakdown product, creatinine.

Also the amount of muscle you have will reflect on the amount of creatine. More muscle, more need for creatine, more creatine, more creatinine.

I am not sure how long the effect of cooked meat lasts, I would think/recall four to six hours.

Has your GP suggested that you have repeat bloods in a few months?

yeah, 3 months from now, he asked if i was eating alot of protein and if i was drinkin enough water, which i am except maybe the water could be higher.

as was already stated, a high protein intake can increase you creatinine. get your creatinine rechecked and if your creatinine stays persistently elevated, consider a 24h urine for protein, or a albumin:creatinine ratio. if these are high, you may need to see a nephrologist. take care.

also, Lifting weights prior to a blood test can also result in elevated creatinine levels correct?
