blood sugar level question

Just got results back from my quarterly blood-testing (I've been off AAS for 6 months), everything was fine apart from my blood sugar level. Result was:

7.6 mmol/l <normal range 3.5 - 6.2 mmol/l>

Test was taken at 10:30am and as instructed I'd not eaten 12 hours prior to the test, so I was expecting it to come back much lower... around 4.0 mmol/l.

I've read that there's not much to worry about unless blood sugar is in double figures but wasn't sure if that applies to "fasting blood sugar levels" - thought I'd double check with the elite-fitness gurus for opinions :)

My Doc didn't seem concerned but has advised me to get a home-test kit to check blood sugar levels over a period of a few days (it's currently on order).

Cheers,

Sig

7.6mmol/L is fine---the "normal" ranges can vary; in the area I work, 4.0-10.0 is considered normal.

If anything, a fasting blood sugar level that came back as "low" would raise more red flags than one that was just barely high.

7.6mmol/L after fasting is a good reading. Means your body has enough glycogen stores to keep you going on an empty stomach :)

Testing your own levels if your not diabetic seems a bit extreme, but if your doc advised it, no worries. :)
