Blood Pressure self tests

Im about to start another cycle and wanted to keep track of my BP this time. What is the best bang/buck self blood pressure testing system out there? I know someone mentioned the Omron HEM-609 in another thread which is around $50 but it wasn't getting the best reviews.

Edit: Also it would be preferable to get this from amazon.com since I have a $25 gc there and they have about 20-30 different models. I notice most of them can only accomdate up to a 17" arm, any known brands that can do more?

Anyone else have any suggestions?

We bought a ReliOn Automatic Blood Pressure Monitor, Model HEM-780REL.

All you have to do is wrap the cuff around your arm and push a button. Has a memory, saves some ridulous amount of readings date and time stamped.

We took it to the doctors office with us and the doctor was very satisfied the readings were accurate. I seem to recall it was around $60+/- at Walmart.

Some things you have to remember with doing your own BP (if you don't already know this):

Sit straight up, with both feet flat on the floor, at a table (yes, this is VERY important). Be quiet for a bit BEFORE testing your BP.

Rest the arm you're reading ON the table.

Don't fidget or talk while the reading is taking place.

Take your BP around the same time of day each time you take it, the readings can naturally fluctuate quite a bit throughout the day.

I use Omron HEM-780 which I found pretty reliable.
You must be sitting down for 3 minutes before you take the reading.
I always take 3-4 readings at short intervals. Use the last two as more accurate.

What about ones that fit around the wrist, are they reliable?

Short answer, nope, not the finger ones, either. The upper arm cuff is the most reliable. Even the stand up ones I've seen in a few pharmacies are really no good.
