My thing is, I have a pretty solid radar when someone isn't being real with me. I feel a little queasy in my stomach when the words don't match the body language. So I tend to weed out the bad pretty fast, or at least keep them in the same outer circle I do most guy friends. It's taken time, but I cherish those women, being around them is like therapy lol

Well, all my guy friends will try to bang me if they get drunk enough. I don't consider that the basis of a real friendship lol. The guys I'm pals with I def have more in common with as far as hobbies and interests and I love hanging out with them, but I'm keeping a very significant part of myself tucked away at all times and I never confide about the things in my life that are hurting me or worrying me unless it's directly relevant to them somehow. I've let a select few know about the outpatient thing I'm doing right now but beyond passing along the information, I've never brought it up again. Friend zoned, but not girlfriendzoned if that makes sense lol.
But my girls...they are the one I tell when I am struggling, or heartbroken, or stressing relationship stuff. All of them are enough like me that I can bounce something off of them and they can help me wade through the bullshit. Aside from that I spend so much time acting like a man with woman parts as I joked recently, it's nice to be able to, from time to time, do stupid girl stuff like watch a reality show about women looking for wedding dresses that I never would have watched if one friend didn't have it on (she's recently engaged, and her head is everything wedding), or gossip about the men in our lives, people watch together, play on the stupid fair style rides by the beach and eat a gross chilidog that leaves you feeling "fat and happy (just rattling off some of my recent girl time activities).
Guys, as a rule, just don't really like talking about what's really going on in their ticker and I don't like pushing them to go against that grain (what guy doesn't hate hearing "What are you thinking about?"). I can't talk about something real with someone if I'm going to have to guess what they are thinking, so chances are at any point in any time being around my dude friends I'm going to be holding something back. My girls, I can let the craziest thing fly and they roll with it. It's relaxing as hell to be around that.

yes, women are driven by more emotion, but there is a biological need for that balance. There is a palce for logical thinking and there is a place for emotion, whimsy, empathy, compassion. I've had some of my best conversations with the guys in my life. But yea, when they get drunk they definitely try to sleep with you, that sucks. I find that I can be more myself with men. I'm a little rough around the edges and they seem to accept me that way. I find that women judge for this.
