Has anyone heard anything about Klay Pittman?? he is supposedly a black belt under Machado. I was wandering if anyone had any additional info.

The only thing I dont like about that school (never been there) is that they dont seem to follow the BJJ belt system.

traditional belt system for 0-16: white, yellow, green. 17+: white, blue, purple, brown, black

No plaques on the wall and is not an official Carlos Machado school (Carlos Machado Brazillian Jiu-Jitsu) does not follow the traditional belt system. He claims to have a black belt under Carlos Machado. Guess you would have to ask him for his certificate or email Carlos Machado to confirm. There is an article at Interview with Klay Pittman where he states he got his black belt from Carlos on weekends and a little background on him . Hope that helps.

He's a third degree black belt under Carlos Machado and Royce Gracie. I've seen the plaques, met Master Machado and Gracie both at his school, and have seen him teach some of the most awesome classes. He has a large academy and none of those guys seem to ever lose. He's the real deal.

if he has a blackbelt from carlos machado he should be reputable if he has a black belt under carlos machado and royce gracie thats even better.the machados got there blackbelts from the gracies in case you didnt know.
