Biker Guys.....

This is my first post to this board - BMom tells me it's a great place to hang out. Here's the deal, the DH is putting a 113cui S&S HP motor in our wide glide. At first it sounded like a good idea but the more I hear the guys talking about this the more I wonder if he is building a death trap. He says that it is only a death trap if you get stupid on it. I love the bike, I love to ride but I am more than a bit nervous about this deal. I am not even sure if asking a bunch of testosterone driven men is going to give me the straight answer but it is worth a try...

Depends what you want bro.

I like to cruise, if I wanted speed I woulda got a Ducati.

Welcome by the way. There are lots of Harley bros here.

Thanks Sweetie - btw I'm a sis not a bro.
Why would you have gone with a Ducati??
It's a little late now as the thing is already on the bench...

sorry sis :)

It just a personal thing, for me a hog is for crusing, not power and speed.

But we all have our own ideas on what we want to do with our rides.

For speed I like the Ducati's

Women on hogs, man I love the sight of that!

If your guy is an experienced rider then he should be able to ride responsibly with the power of the SS. The stock Evo Motor lacked the power anyway. Replacing it with a 113 (set up for the street) still isn't going to make it a Ducati. Basically, he's going to have a bike that hauls ass in a straight line.

Thanks guys! He is experienced and he is responsible. At some point I will have my own if we ever stop dumping $$ into his.

Glad to hear that BM

See good things happend to good people :)

Three hours??? Da-ummmm. Hey if that blonde friend of ours is autographing pics while she works - I WANT ONE, and well, of course you knowwww what other autograph you might possibly be maybe getting while your there.....that I might want one of...

Thanks BigDawg.... :D

Yea Temple.... I will call you, my fingers would fall off if I actually typed all the bizaare coincidences that lead up to us NOT really talking for the past several months and then the equally bizaare coincidences that lead up to us FINALLY talking....

I couldn't even speak for the first several minutes, my breath was just taken away... I was just so happy to hear his voice again. We talked about all sorts of things... still there are many things that must be said in person. But the point is, that we talked.... I miss him so... Does anyone know when trout season begins? tee-hee

Thanks for the talk the other night... if it weren't for that I wouldn't have had the guts to keep trying.

The autograph thing... YOU KNOW that the blonde myth will be THRILLED... the other I can't guarantee, but I will DEFINITELY POST A PIC!... IF I GET TO MEET THE INDIVIDUAL. God, I will just DIE!

You will become comfortable with this existence when you come to fully accept that the bizarre and the coincidence is simple a force outside of yourself exerting its influence. Out of curiousity has someone who loved you very much died within the last year and a half or so????

Bigdawg is right-

Harley frames do not have the geometry for high speed, their built for cruising. They can get hairy at high speed, especially with oversized bars and any significant rake!! Do yourself a favor- scale back the moter a bit, no need to do 130 on a Harley, plus if you scale back you'll get more reliability, and engine life!!

On the Duc- sweetest production crotch rocket made!! Handles like a dream!!!!!!!!

I will also suggest scaling back a bit on the engine but more for reliability sake. If you go with a 100cui you won't loose much in the way of speed but there is less chance of running into problems. My information might be a little dated so I'm not sure if S&S has improved things over the last couple of years. Last I heard anything at 100cui or lower had the best reliability.

Good Luck.

Right now I can't think of the conversion here, I've got too much calc on the brain......so somebody correct me if I'm off here....but isn't 113cui pushing 2000cc's?? Anyway, top end speed isn't what you need to worry about with those engines. Those are huge twins designed to do one thing.......rip your nuts off on the takeoff. Twins peak out pretty quick.......and a twin that big will get you down the 1/8 pretty fucking quick. The only times you really need to worry about those things are when you launch em........they can get away from you pretty quick with all that torque. I sat behind a friend of mine who put his hawg in the air at a stop sign. Needless to say hawg's aren't very controllable with their front wheels up off the ground. He spilled over to the side with his g/f on the back. If she hadn't been on the back and he wasn't scraped up.....I'd a layed into him for trying to hotshot.
