Bike Locks picked with simple pen!! (article)

Someplace, somewhere -- some engineer at a bike lock company jsut got fired.

I actually spoke to a reporter yesterday about it cause we sell them. I haven't heard one complaint from customers yet, and the company gaurantees them up to a certain dollar amount for each different lock. I even tried with a bic pen sleeve yesterday and couldn't get one open. I couldn't get a good grip on the pen though either.

I think thay are making this out to be bigger than it is.

A lot of people from different motorcycle based message boards have been opening up there locks with pens. So it is a big issue.

I dont have a U lock, but I do have a kryptonite disc lock on my bike, and not sure if it can be opened with a pen.

Me and another guy at work just tried again and were unsuccessful. I don't think it's as easy as they make it sound. I've wrecked 2 pens now. Fuck stolen bikes, what am I supposed to write with?

HS- I assume you're talking about the Kryptogrip? looks like a gas cap. Those can not be picked the same way.

damn, I have a krypto EV disc lock....and yes I've seen the videos of them being opened with a pen. Maybe it's time to get something else for my CBR....
