Biggest sports contract ever?

Vick and Manning both signed $100 million deals a few years ago.

What did A-Rod sign?

Does Ruth's contract still stand?

FUCKING DISGUSTING.

We have peopel in this country working on cures for cancer, HIV, engineers designing things to improve all ofhumanity... donating their enitre life to helping others and we pay em shit.

Some fucking retard who can throw a ball and is barely literate is making tens of millions of dollars which he blows on hookers, lowered SUV's and a new gril for his ugly teeth.

Fucking infuriates me.

Yeah then most people irritate you because if no one paid for tickets, these athletes wouldn't get such large contracts. The demand (public citizens) for professional sports is at fault as well -- not just the teams.

But, I do see what you are saying. Most of the money goes to shit they don't need.

tiger woods makes more money than anyone in sports and he seems like a classy guy.

sports perform a specific function in society - the athletes are commdities, they are bought and sold like expensive employees, because they are.

Teams are owned by very rich people. Super super rich, forbes list rich, the elite of the elite. Their teams function as control mechanisms, teaching irrational loyalties and geogrpahically segmenting the population.

Sports is also a wealth transfer mechanism; from the fans, who are majority middle class or lower, to the super-rich owners. The players are the instrument of the transfer - almost like brokers.

To understand how harsh this system is, you should get to know some guys who almost made the pros. see who reaches out to them.

With contracts included Michael Schumacher and Tiger Woods are number 1 and 2 it flip flops from year to year, but Tiger has been on top the last 2 years. Right around a 100 million per year.

Probably Michael Schumacher's contract with the Ferrari F1 racing team.

What the fuck. They make that much money? Damn. How? Is the fan base that large? It must be internationally larger.

There's a whole world out there. Almost no one outside of North America watches football, basketball, or baseball.

I realize that, believe me. But I don't know what other countries watch that the US doesn't, besides soccer.

World Cup is gonna be nasty.
