Big Surprise (sarcasm)

In fall of 2001 B.Smith hired my old company to re-design her new NYC penthouse apartment.

I just read today in the NYTimes how she designed the place herself.

Designed all the cabinetry, picked out all the stone and tile.

Well, well, well.

Who the hell is B. Smith?? I need my office re-designed. :qt:

I've seen her tv show. She's kinda hot for an old babe.

if she paid for it. She technically "did it herself". What she doesn't add is she did it herself by picking up the phone.

Well, yes and no.

The article specifically says she designed it.

She's not qualified as an architect that had to get approval for the demo and to keep the place to code.

I personally drew up the plans including the demo and designed all the cabinetry for that apartment which in the article the author says she designed.

"Ms. Smith and Mr. Gasby worked closely on the apartment with Jonathan Arnold, a cabinetmaker, who expedited Ms. Smith's ideas on design in lieu of an architect. She described her style at home as global."

You could always contact the author of the story, maybe they will give you credit, or at least it will put your name in the author's mind. Who knows, maybe they will do a story on you and you can tell how you designed this woman's apartment. :D

On me no - I worked for the company that designed it - so they should do that for my old company. It's not really surprising - I mean to the public world why should a stylist have to hire a designer...

I'm dying to find out if the old bosses have seen it yet.

Sue her and settle out of court for ONE BILLION DOLLARS. thanks

You could always make sure that they got a copy of the article.

Velv,

B.Smith?!? I haven't lived in NYC full time since '96, but I remember her well, my finacee at that time (whew, that would have SUCKED!) consulted on her menu at 'B.Smiths', not even sure if that incarnation of her restaurant is still open.

anywho: when they got a shorty in the Times, guess who was credited with 'designing' all the food?

You got that right.

LoL.

Same indeed.

Update:

I received a call on Monday from former company's lawyer - they plan to go after them and you know who will be invloved.

JOY.

Atleast you have a chance to get some coin out of this. The very least you'll probably get from free pub for you/your company.

Now might be a good time to take a trip to Brooklyn, look up the *old friends* to help for some "consultation and extraction".

I won't personally - my name could possibly get mentioned but it wasn't my company that did the just the company I worked for at the time of the project.

If they haven't thrown anything away they should still have every drawing, invoice and communication that I had saved.

I know their lawyer from prior dealings at the company - it should be an interesting show.

That should give the summer people something to talk about this year, at least until someone gets drunk or caught with the wrong person. :insane:

:D

It's really sad - business aside they're fun people and I liked working with her.

But business is business and that seemed to have gotten in the way.

interesting.

call me, silly. I have an interesting opportunity for you.

I still don't understand why she just didn't say that she worked with company x in designing her apartment.
