I am going to get a HDTV around the 55"-60" range. I cant decide if I want to get a regular screen or a wide screen. Is the wide screnn worth the extra money? what do you guys suggest and why?

When I get back to school I have this guy who sells HDTV's. I am buying a 48'' HD TV for under $1,000. Is that good or what?
Bro-def go for the flat shit!

If you are gonna go full Pop, Might as well get the real thing.

Wide Screen will show you the Whole Image as if in a theater.

You know when you set a DVD movie to wide screen and see the blank section at top and Bottom?
With a Wide Screen HDTV you will see this entire wide image WITHOUT the black spaces..

Uh-oh.

You should be careful about purchasing HDTV. I suggest you should do extenstive research into it before getting one. Make sure you're getting your money's worth from a HDTV. I can't quite remember but there are still big debates about certain networks taking so long to set up digital programming for HDTV and broadcasters aren't really enthuastic about doing it.

I would wait too, (although I really want one bad). They should start to come down in price and I rember hearing that the current HDTVs were being improved on.

But if your going to get one GET WIDESCREEN 16:9 ratio but do alot of research about burn in and shit like that.

I'm wagering that having an HDTV in 2 years will be like having a laserdisk player today.

Widescreen is the only way to go, cause most DVD's are in that format now. I have a regular big screen TV (55") and when I watch a DVD only about 1/2 of it is used, so all that screen size is going to waste.

Now I'm looking to get myself a nice Widescreen HD TV.

Also stay away from the flat screen that hang on the wall (plasma screens_) The DOGS (digital on screen graphics) as thay are called have a tendenancy to burn images in the screen if left in one place for too long there fore the manufacturers have put roaming which carries the images in a slow circular pattern around the screen it take a full minute for one revolution, however if this if annoying to some there is a switch to turn roaming off and lets the customer suffer the consenquiences. If a burn occurs the warrenty is void. That's garbage. I thought we were making advancments in technology.

do a search with my name and "tv talk"... i had some good replies from people a few weeks back.. as i, too, am on the verge of a purchase....

as for widescreen... if you have the money, fine.. but if cash is an issue think about how often you actually rent movies... my purchase is primarily for football... plus, i can go wide screen witha dvd and deal with the top and bottom blacked out (letterboxed) since its 54" inches it wont matter much.

Yes it is garbage i'm an electronics technician, and you would also think the direct tv dish would have been perfected but if it rains hard enough thay go out!!! it seen for every avancement theres always a step backward!!!RADAR

Why have they not fixed the burn in issue yet??

Thats always my biggest fear about buying one and have the tv stations not thought of this?

They always have their logo on the screen and you would think that they would do something about it.
