I'm currently doing pullups, barbell rows, then preacher curl. Do you think the preacher curls are necessary? Will the biceps get enough work to grow without simple/isolation work? Thanks.

I guess if you are a beginner, that's enough. The only one of those movements that is strictly for the biceps is preacher curls. Put it like this, it beats sitting on the couch eating moon pies. You could be a whole lot better to yourself in terms of a bicep workout.
It varies from person to person. Some people need to directly train bis, others don't. My biceps grew the most when I started deadlifting. Find out what works for you.
Based on the great Lord_Suston's advice I do: 3x8 barbell curls, then 3x12 reverse bar curls. This is after I do 3x6 pullups, 3x8 barbell rows, 3x8 lat pulldowns. Nothing TOO extreme.
