Bicep problem

Roadblock

New member
My left bicep is shorter than the right. It´s been like that since I started working out. Is there a way to make it longer? Stretching more?
It really fucks up my symmetry.

Sorry man, can't do much about it. Hopefully when they are, if they aren't already, fully developed, they look more alike. My left bi has a completely different shape than my right.

I have noticed that many of us have the same symmetry problem, particularly in the arms. For me it's both my triceps and my biceps wherein the left is stronger but the right is bigger.

genetics determine where the muscle attaches to the tendon so sorry bro.

I got more peak on right than left.

A friend of mine who´s a powerlifter said it looked like I had torn my bicep.

No way, you would know if it was torn. Don't listen to powerlifters either, they don't know anything about biceps. :D

and how do you believe that will 'lengthen' the bicep, or even give the appearance of a 'lengthend' bicep?

Sorry but it just doesn't happen.

well, it seems to me like it works your lower bicep. NO, it doesn't actually lengthen the bicep, it only works the lower bicep therfore developing the area. This development will possibly lead to the appearance of the bicep being longer by virtue of the fact that it is more developed where it does insert. I did not mean that it will lengthen, you got what you got as far as that goes, but you can develop what you do have.

haha!

How does one exercise hit the 'lower bicep' more than another?

Answer: it doesn't.

regions of the bicep can't be isolated, nor emphasised. The bicep either contracts or it doesn't and thus, the bicep either grows or doesn't [or gets smaller of course!]

Robboe's got it. And that goes for every god damn muscle in your body, even abs, chest, and lats. Stop reading those worthless Bodybuilding mags. Most bodybuilders don't know jack fucking shit about physiology.

no one is perfectly symmetrical........ look at even arnolds arms very closely.......

what i did was swap to doing everything with my left arm

eating, brushing my teeth, picking things up, writting..... it worked

I agree the bicep either contracts or it doesn't, which leads to overall growth. BTW I don't read the BB mags bc most are full of useless information, but a couple of class in exercise physiology does help. OK, maybe you can't isolate your lower bicep, but your bicep is made up of at least two different heads How many times have you heard of someone doing a particular exercise to increase the peak of their bicep, making their thigh sweep greater, making their lats wider, working their upper or lower chest, working the front of their calves or the rear, or working the long head of the bicep. If you can make your thigh sweep greater by doing squats or leg presses with your feet closer together then you can work the lower part of the bicep more than the overall muscle. Each muscle group is made up of different sections and you can work them in isolation, it will still require the entire muscle to contract but that particular area will receive most of the work. Just like working forearms, you can work different sections of the forearm and if think you can't I won't post another reply to try to disprove your theary, I'll just have better developed bis, tris and forearms.

yeah you just keep telling yourself that mate.

Arnold is an excellent example. He said that concentration curls give more peak. If that was the case, then how come the peak oon both his biceps were different between the start of his career and the end? surely he would have just done some conc. curls and sorted it out?

BTW quads = 4 muscles, bicep = 1 muscle. That is how variations on exercises can emphasise parts more.

P.S. upper chest can't be isolated.

Robboe, You're right, I'll quit arguing w/ya bro. It was fun killing the time though.

P.S. Quad=4, Tri=3, Bi=2, Penta=5, Octa=8

my arms are like that too, was born that way with a screwy version of scoliosis according to my mother... although i have noticed that if i concentrate on proper form (even though i know my right arm is stronger) and stick with a weight that my left arm can do for my reps that it is slowly catching up and looking better... so honestly what i would do is keep working out because the bigger your bi's get the more they will look the same if you are like me.

The quads is a group of four *separate* muscles. This is why certain exercises can work different parts of the quad. You're working *different muscles*. The bicep is *one* muscle and therefore the WHOLE muscle is working or none of it is (like a switch, on or off). Same goes for tris and pecs. Help me out Robboe.

Thanks for all the replies bros. I´ve gotten advice on all kinds of "techniques" to lengthen my bicep.

Heavywear: I wish I could post a pic of it because it is not "all in my head", it looks really bad. I´ve never injured it, guess I was born that way. It doesn´t show when I´m relaxed but try flex it,, argh!

Thank again! :)
