I am thinking about getting away in a few weeks, I was thinking about Florida, Key West Etc: Where would be a good place to go for some R and R.. prefer warm climates. Thanks

If you have more than 2 days, do South Beach / Key West. Key West by itself gets played after about 2 days. Its only like 3 mile x 5 miles. 4 hr drive between So Be & KW and you get to drive the whole length of the Keys (don't do it on Sunday ... or if you do, plan a whole afternoon on driving cuz EVERYONE goes home from the Keys on Sunday) - its a pretty drive - interesting - but again, very small -- hard to make it more than a weekend down there.

. . .and rent a crotch rocket to do the SoBE to KW commute.

I was going to recommend Austin, TX (great climate, great food, great scenery, college town full of women, great lakefront....perhaps the worlds greatest live music city!!!!).....but now I hear noone speaks English there...????

Key West is not even in the top 100 Best Vacation spots in the U.S.

I'd say keywest but it does get old after awhile. Sw florida is nice if you just want to relax without the mobs you get on the east coast.

St Thomas and St John.. Almost like never leaving the US as its a US territory
Fly into St Thomas for the touristy nice hotel and tropical holiday, and then you can
take a day boat out to St John for seclusion.

Key West is a bit too commercialized for my tastes.. Especially if you aren't into Bar Hopping and cats roaming around up on tables in the open air resturants as you eat..

Sanibel is nice this time of year... Awesome shelling along the beaches with the lake like waves vs big surf.

for me it's got to be san francisco - i just love the place, the food, the weather, the people, it's like a different world to the East Coast

Who was it that said
"Coldest Winter I ever spent was a Fall/Spring in San Francisco".. :)

I would have to say Tennesee, around Gatlingburg area......lots to do from trails to amusement parks, shopping...has it all. We got a cabin up in the mountains and it would of cost us the same if we were to get a hotel.
