The best safety Rated SUV this year was the Acura it got the best Rating given

all the American SUV's were given poor ratings from what I heard

I do remember hearing that the AVG cost of repair for a accident under 40mph for the Accura was around $400

Why no Mercedes SUV

on the list? It has gotten good ratings in safety tests every year........good engine, with good power, and the costs 35- 45k are about the same as the other gas-guzzling tanks you have up there......The American models don't hold their value long or well, you can find most of them on used car lots after about a year or so.....depreciation is a bitch......TxCollegeguy, who was second in the ratings system?

I think It was the BMW and Toyota 4 runner did well this year....I could be mistaking, I saw the report on the news monday

The Lexus SUV got a bad rating as well

I didn't add any of the high end models, just the regular domestic oens. I can't afford a 45k vehicle, thats ridiculous. Well....maybe if it was a Cadillac Escalade, but I am 17, can't afford something that expensive. I wan't something conventional. I really like Gmc Yukon XL. Those things are awesome.

exlporer sport..i accidentally picked expidition but i meant exlporer...my dad has had 4 of them and no problems ever, but they arent the nicest....denali's are the illest

peace

I'd take a BMW X5, with the offroad luxury package. Is that an oxymoron?

I remember how badly I wanted a 1997 Chevy Taho SS coversion, 4door.

Beware: anyone buying/driving an SUV is automatically branded by the eco-freak Liberals as some kind of Earth-Destroying Monster worthy of hatred and vandalism.
Earth First is a bunch of assholes with bad hygiene and shitty taste in music.

Chevrolet Suburban isn't on the list? Definately the choice!!!!

B True

tahoe or expedition....ford makes an excellent truck/suv but the chevy is damn nice too...chevy has a much better resale value then the ford does and the interior is a bit more refined but the drivetrain in the ford cant be beat..so it comes down to which you like driving better and which you could afford.

Dad has a Dodge Durango, and he spends about 40$ every other day for gas, its a monster, especially here in NYC, my sister just recently turned 18 and parents are getting her the Mercedes SUV, first off cuz its one of the safest, and its not too big to flip over like those other monsters like the Excursion, Expedition, and Suburban. When i turn 18 my parents agreed to either a GMC Envoy or the Mercedes for me as well. My dads friend has a Envoy and my dad is even thinking bout getting rid of his pretty new Durango for one, they're very luxurious and compact, just like the mercedes and not too pricey, only 35k fully loaded. :fro:

I'll stick with my Land Rover, an SUV that can actually act like an SUV!!

None of those glorified station wagons even come close!!!

That includes the Luxury class like the BMW, the Acura and the Mercedes.

I bought my Dodge Durango in September of last year and I LOVE IT!! Its so sporty looking...I like the yukons and all - but to me I didnt like driving them..but they are beautiful vehicles....as far as the gas - Wizkids dad must be driving from one state to another to spend 40.00 a day...I dont spend that much in a week...I think last time I checked I got 16miles to the gallon, which is about average for a full size v8 engine....I would just test drive all of them for a day or two just to be sure....

What about the Toyota Sequia. It has one of the best safety test and it has tons of power. If you get the leather package you would be friding smoooooooooth.:fro:

the excursion is a mean mother fucker, its a huge machine, twice the size of anything else out there

import suv's suck for off road, the have veyr low ground clearance

Here's a pic of my Escalade sitting on 22's. If you want an SUV with power, it's has 345 horsepower.

Why list American SUVS...we all know they suck in comparison to any Japanese SUV.

American automakers can't make anything but a loss on the stock market. Buy from Japan.

I LOVE the escalades. I don't want to spend that much though. Maybe my next vehicle after this will be an escalade. They're much nicer looking than a Lincoln Navigator.

The Jap SUV's don't have any room in them (except the new Sequoia), esp. headroom. The Jeep Grand Cherokee isn't on the list, it's a pretty good SUV all around - performance, off-road ability, creature comforts, and more recently very aggressive pricing.

how do you figure that they suck in comparison with car based japanese suv's? the only Japanese SUV I would buy would be the Land Cruiser..the rest of them are over priced, underpowered and not able to handle what I throw under it. As for the Benz, Acrua and other luxo SUVs, they are nice but they are not built for off road driving. If you have unlimited funds and the only obsticles your rig will see is a street curb then go with one of the Acura or Lexus or Benz car based SUV's. If you want to spend alot of money and get something made in Japan then go with a Toyota or a Mitsubishi or a Nissan or a Suzuki....if you want something that can actually go off road with alot of power (and be damn safe while you are at it) then buy a fullsize Chevy or Ford.

Right. And have fun with the repair bills. FORD=fix or repair daily.

you obviously have NO idea what the hell you are talking about when it comes to autos. Ford trucks are the BEST SELLING VEHICLE in the country..not the best selling trucks but best selling vehicle..you dont get that honor by selling junk.

Right. Ford also has the most recalls of any auto manufacturers in this country. It's common knowledge to experts in the auto industry that American cars are far inferior to Japanese vehicles. Why do you think Japanese cars continously dominate the rankings?

There are enough dumb people to buy dumb cars---that explains Fords limited success.

jeeps grands and escalades are the pimpest, plus a jeep can outperform most others offroad, especially wranglers.

can you name a few of these so called auto experts???
as for dumb people buying dumb cars who the fuck are you to judge anyone else???

WHat is a kingswood? Isn't that a truck that Lincoln makes? I don't see the point in having a luxury truck.

jeep cherokees or grand cherokees. simply because I am an outdoor person, and I like to get out to no man's land. I say jeep because I believe in performance before looks.

yeah, maybe if you just clip the mirror. I don't know of any vehicle that would cost less than $400 to repair for a 40mph accident. I'm sure the bumper/facia cost alot more than that alone.
